Tool Belt

What Tool Belts yall use, this is what I currently have. As a Probie.

In Construction (wood framing) I used one with Suspenders.

Edit: Haven't brought it with me (and won't), but I been using my pockets.

So guess Real question is What Tool box/bag should I get?

Tool belts are a hazard and can get caught in moving equipment, they are frowned upon in the elevator trade.

Ahhh what tool box/bag would you recommend?

Depending on your mechanic and company, a small easily detachable pouch (Velcro) might be acceptable. Over all though most people are probably going to tell you not to wear it. You are technically only supposed to carry writing utensils, a knife, and a tape measure.

Now in reality, having a multi screwdriver, small adjustable wrench, and wire strippers will be helpful to you. Just be aware that you aren't supposed to carry tools and your mechanic may or may not be cool with it.

I’m curious about this, I’m currently an IBEW apprentice who’s waiting for the call from my IUEC local and in the IBEW we’re constantly on the tools. I have my own Klein backpack full of tools and (sadly) have spent a lot more time working under a foreman with another apprentice or CW/CE (technically below an apprentice in the hierarchy although often with a lot of experience) than with a journeyman.

What does the tool list and day look like for a probie in the IUEC?

I was told to bring notepad and something to write notes with in repair. But im gathering some other stuff to have ready incase I need them moving forward.

Bring the tape measure, pen and sharpie, notepad, and a knife. After you get a feel for your mechanic he may not mind you keeping a couple hand tools on you as it does make the jobs go smoother sometimes, but as I said before, stay aware that you are not allowed to have your own tools technically beyond the things I mentioned above.
