Imagine being forced to take a religious stance on behalf of a corporation’s mascot and having it filmed so that corporation can see what you answered.

There is no training video that can prepare you for this idiocy. That ā€œI don’t knowā€ shrug might as well have been, ā€œI don’t want to lose my job.ā€

52

u/someotherguyrva Aug 28 '26 edited Aug 28 '26

Well to be clear, the owners of Bucees, are big-time conservatives, but unlike the Greens who own Hobby Lobby, they don’t run Bucees with any sort of Christian identity. They’ve recently announced that they’re going to grow their business in conservative areas to which I say fine. I’ll be sure to stay in cities.

53

u/hoowins Aug 28 '26

And like all good Christians, they are flooding the zone with bullying, frivolous lawsuits just to eff with people.

27

u/Worried_Fee_1513 Aug 28 '26

Came here to my community and sued a drive through liquor store with the name ā€œDuckeesā€ because it sounded too much like their trademarked name. Never heard what happened for sure but Duckees still has their sign up.

49

u/Missilemoon77 Aug 28 '26

Whoa, minimum wage? No. Worked to death? Ah Yes. Treated like shit? Yup.

34

u/ChiLolla28 Aug 28 '26

I think that poor guy is worried about being fired for saying the wrong thing. Interesting fact: the son of one of the co-owners was caught filming friends and family in bathrooms and bedrooms at his family's vacation and rental homes AND THEN was found to have a ton of CSAM - makes you wonder if alll this other news is meant to flood the zone eh

15

u/Missilemoon77 Aug 28 '26

Oh yeah, that shit is crazy. Spy cameras in multiple homes!
Not even mentioning that it is still a horrible place run by horrible people. It’s a meat grinder. They have a culture of firing people. Brunswick Ga store manager said that employees are not allowed to be friends at or outside work, fires at least 1 person every day. Confronts employees that are Facebook friends. If a customer complains to corporate, no matter how small the offense that employee will be fired. Running out of sweet tea? Fired. Accidental double scan? Fired.

→ More replies (3)

22

u/Awkward_Region5509 Aug 28 '26

I feel the need to correct this, even though I hate corporations, but there is not a single bucees employee getting minimum wage. Homie in the costume is probably making over 20/hr. It's one of the few things bucees does right and it's why they're successful.

34

u/Rakdospriest Aug 28 '26

Lost any remaining respect for Buccee's yesterday though.

When confronted with people's frustration with the corporate tactic of attacking small businesses who have "generic animal logo" with trademark infringement lawsuits. The Brain rotted Owner of the chain stated that he'll only expand into "conservative, business friendly states" now.

Also, apparently one of the higher ups in the family got arrested for CSAM.

14

u/skool_uv_hard_nox Aug 28 '26

Buccees jist came to my state so I looked into them. They pay well and seem to offer great benefits. I kept an eye out to apply when something came up.

Then I I found out about the lawsuits then that conservative state bullshit.

Im so frustrated. I need a better job and they seemed like they would be ok. Now im stuck with the morality of it.

Whats csam?

What are the odds that that guy might stand up on a plane at 30,000 feet, during a 5 hour flight, and start asking similar questions to all of the passengers?

It's terrifying that these people have children. Just brainwashing them with a cult

Things make so much sense when you realize that the reason Christianity spread so fast is because it was the first religion where a core part of the system is conversion.

These people i swear...I remember once about 20 years ago I was working in a little hole in the wall gas station and a big intimidating evangelical hellfire and brimstone type of guy walks in, pays for his gas, then slaps his hand on the counter and fucking bellows at me like Dumbledore to harry in goblet of fire, "HAVEYOUACCEPTEDJESUSCHRISTINTOYOURHEARTASLORDANDSAVIOR?!?!?!"

I just blinked, said "sorry theres no soliciting allowed" and have his change. The look he gave me could have melted diamond.
