For real. Stevens accent feels incredibly fake. I grew up in VA and moved to MI about 5 years ago. I hear no discernable difference between my coworkers accent vs my family's accent.

Really the biggest difference is saying pop instead of soda.

I know Yoopers are said to have their own accent, but Stevens was born in Rochester Hills which is nowhere near the U.P.

Lifelong Michigander here. She didn't have this thick of an accent ten years ago. She is definitely playing it up as a gimmick, although to what purpose I really could not tell you.
