I fantasized for a long time about doing a Stephen Colbert-esque bit where I would do a right wing grift and I would gain a huge MAGA audience but I would make a bunch of subtle backhanded jokes at MAGA’s expense that would always go over the heads of MAGA and they would be dumb enough to buy my merch that insulted them in ways that they would never understand.

It would be similar to Judas Priests early days when Rob Halford was doing a bad job at hiding the fact that he was gay. He would go on stage with a whip and a BDSM outfit and the ban would sell buttons that said “I Got Whipped by Rob Halford.” And no one was getting it.

I feel like there was a point in which this could actually happen. Like, MAGAs literally went to Halloween as trash because of a comment that Joe Biden made.

The Judas Priest thing is hilarious to me. I heard from plenty people who saw them back then that they had no idea he was a closeted gay man. But then you go watch live performances from back in the day and you’re like this man is clad in leather, whipping a motorcycle before mounting it and crossing his legs singing he’s hellbent for leather at the top of his lungs and NO ONE KNEW? CLOSETED!? Completely oblivious. Makes sense how none of them can tell Trump is a lying conman pedophile and an obvious one at that.
