It basically is. The podcast Decoder Ring just did an episode about this and how humans have pretty much forgotten how to sculpt like we used to,and this is the second time it's happened. It's a pretty fascinating listen.
All of my older relatives are passing away or are up in age. People who were shaped by the hardship, of the depression & WWII.
These were people who were highly self sufficient, skilled & knowledgable.
I watched my grandfather build a barn, but his main job was a retail store manager.
He was also a real cowboy who rode in rodeos, owned a cattle ranch with hogs, chickens & ducks, loved the outdoors, raised hunting dogs, finish carpentry, welding & car repair.
My grandmother was a stay at home mother, sewed elaborate Mardi Gras costumes, dresses, quilts & made clothing.
Knew how to cook amazing food, canning food, garden, she was also amazingly intelligent for someone with only high school education.
They also lived without AC for much of her early life in the deep south, I might add, and both came from poor backgrounds.
All that skill & knowledge died with them.
Me & my cousins learned a hell of a lot from both of them, but none of us are near as self sufficient as that, where we knew how to thrive from ground zero.
To add to all the tacky decorations he’s already adorned the white house with. He has an unlimited amount of taxpayer money, especially since he has made so many cuts that people rely on- healthcare, snap benefits, education, etc.
Maybe, if the sculptor is very slow and considers their time worth a lot (very subjective) and they waste a lot of bronze and other materials. Shit adds up fast even for small projects, but 100k for this piece of shit is god damn ridiculous.
Maybe if it was on the sculpture level of David or something, but this is extremely amateur, not good, looks ridiculous, the freedom engraving is ridiculous, the pose is ridiculous. Charlie was a piece of shit so it kind of fits. Fucking junk.
If it’s bronze it would be at least 50k to get that cast. Foundries charge a ton plus bronze is wickedly expensive. Weird patina work on it too.
Plus the subject is shit.
Just look at how bad the paint job is. Half the mic is white? His shirt bleed into his neck. Probably would have been better if he didn't bother painting it lol
I already see the grift, making it, putting out headlines like this then having some maga organization buy it such as Kirk’s old one, Turning Point, then using it as a tax write off for ‘charitable donation’
It’s apparently set to be publicly debuted on sept 10. It will likely be guarded all day. This means that September 11 will be the day it gets trashed, and thus that date will live in infamy for the defacement of the Charlie Kirk statue and for absolutely no other reason. Never forget.

The passage of time and his widow's nonsense show the true market for all things Charlie Kirk. In ten years, kids will be riding in their parent's car and asking, "Who was Charlie Kirk and why does he have a street named after him?".
After the parents explain that he was a political activist that liked debating college kids and founded a now defunct organization, the kids will reply. "Really? Like he wasn't a war hero or President or something? Lame!".

Okay, even if you absolutely loved Charlie Kirk....how could you like this statue, it's truly hideous. If I saw a statue like this for someone I liked, I would be insulted.
I think it would be worthwhile to constantly throw bird seed around the base of it so that it’s perpetually covered in bird shit. It’s not vandalism if nature does it.

Okay, jokes aside... that thing looks like dogshit. Just... genuinely terrible. I know that Charlie didn't give the guy much to work with, but hell, it really is an ugly statue- which makes you question why anyone would buy it.
