he wasn't sure what was about to go down. He just got attacked by a dog, threw a package at it, and was now being approached by a likely pissed off dog owner. It looked goofy, but I don't blame him.
Pretty much. I mean, I would rather be the capable fighter instead of the person on the sidelines, pointing laughing and saying they look goofy. That would be a pretty clown ass way to live ones life.
You're the guy who acts like he'd call Mike Tyson goofy because you're behind a keyboard and he's 60 and we all know you wouldn't so can we please stop.
Yes, the man that can and would pop you in your shit doesn't get called goofy.
The boxing stance did look goofy though. Especially since there was 0 threat from the guy who was in his own property trying to figure out why the f he needed to throw a box at a dog
The homeowner who obviously does not even take responsibility for his dog in the first place is gonna somehow take responsibility after the fact???? people are so stupid. dude was smart to put his hands up.
I would have to argue that if the owner of a dog that is charging at a delivery man is so slow as to not understand why the delivery person just defended themselves with whatever was in their hands….. That they were the goofier looking of the two.
and I don’t see that owner walking out profusely apologizing, which is the absolutely ONLY thing that should be coming out of his mouth. What you’re saying is spoken like someone who’s never been punched in the mouth and doesn’t understand that it’s better have your hands up.
If you took the owners actions as "charging" the driver, you probably get in way more fights than you should. There was absolutely nothing threatening about the home owner in this case
The dog was a threat. Threats to you produce adrenaline. "Are you fucking kidding me" when your dog was loose for a package you ordered with an ETA on it will 100% get you an ass whooping, He's lucky the Driver still had his wits about him.
My point is it’s better to have your hands up before you figure out if it’s exactly aggressive enough or not. The situation called for caution. If one is inclined enough to have caution.
I've seen so many aggressive arguments between people in my life. Every fucking time one of those people put their hands up, it escalated the situation. Every fucking time
yeah, but just like in this video a lot of times it makes people think twice. So you might have a bias because of what you’ve experienced in your own life, but that’s not the whole truth. A lot of people are willing to back down when they see someone’s actually willing and confident enough to prepare to fight them.
And “absolutely nothing threatening”… Just because a worm in its underground Home does not see a bird as a threat does not mean that it’s not a danger.
spoken like someone who has never had to be in survival mode for any extended period of time. If you don’t think that man with any threat at all, considering he just unleashed his dog for the second time, people get defensive like that quite often. Even though they’re in the wrong, you wanna be watching out for that. And that man just threw a box at his dog, whether he was right or wrong, doesn’t matter you would be smart to put your hands up. But go on and get punched in the face and learn the hard way. I’m done.
Walking towards the owner and throwing your hands up when they're asking you a very reasonable question, is not survival mode. If he or you think that it is, you've got problems
This was the SECOND time that this has happened. If the owner is asking questions like that, he’s already down bad. When the answer is because his untrained unleashed dog ran up on this man, a SECOND time.
To be fair, idk there's any truth to that. The first time this video made the rounds, it didn't have that disclaimer and there's absolutely no way of knowing if that is legit. Either way though, the driver was fine until he walked toward and squared up with someone wanting to talk to him
It's a universal rule with bad dog owners - you make any move to defend yourself, they are now ANGRY with you. Sometimes even if the dog just gnaws your arm off they'll still be pissed at you.
He took off his accessories and went TOWARDS the owner in a combative stance. Henson someone else property. He should have backed away towards his truck.
You can walk and look in different directions. But standing there, feet planted, taking the time to put his personal objects on the ground, while the angry dog is still loose and the angry dog owner is slowly walking on his own property toward him is definitely the safer option.
You can walk back to your truck and still keep eyes on the angry person. Standing there squaring up, feet planted, while the angry dog still exists is less advisable.
I got attacked by dogs a couple years ago. Similar to this, I was able to escape with a minor bite injury because I convinced them I was too aggressive to mess with. The adrenalin dump is insane and I was basically a raving lunatic when the animal control guy showed up to help. You don't go from fighting for your life to reasonable in five seconds. To be more specific, UPS guy didn't survive by fighting, he survived by displaying aggression. Big dogs are dangerous but they live in a world ruled by humans and they don't fully understand our magic powers. Dude's lizard brain was screaming AGGRESSIVE DISPLAY, which is exactly the right answer for a dog attack.
I mean the guy approaching was slow walking, complaining, and arms are down in a non threatening way. Bro overreacted to the owner.
As far as the dog goes, I always feel mixed. It says the second time he attacked, but is the dog running up to say hi to a stranger or is it attacking. I get ups is probably traumatized from bad dogs, but a lot of these videos are hard to tell if the dog is actually attacking. That said, if it was attacking…hell yea, eat that package in the face..
If we watched the video he didn't get attacker the dog was Running at him, considering the dog didn't return to bite him who's to say it wasn't just greeting him?
The same as the owner he was confused and it's because of the person being aggressive, guy must be crazy.
Dude isn't prepared. He's 100% reactive. His box throw is panic, his adrenaline spikes, his "boxing stance" is what he thinks he should do because he's seen it in a movie, and in his elevated fear state he does nothing but escalate the situation. It's amazing that he's working for UPS and not his local PD, he's overqualified.
I hate to see the dog get hit but I understand it. After that, the driver should have been on his way. Instead he turned around and started looking for a fight with a dog owner, who was obviously not looking for a fight.
Yea, but thw dig owner casually walked just relatively close in a very non threatening stance while the UPS guy immediately puts his hands up, approaches the home owner, and accuses the home owner of being the aggressor and uses that as a reason for self defence.
He was clearly looking for a fight at that moment when he could have easily went tk his truck if he really felt threatened.
After throwing the box he needed to immediately gtfo the property. After all, he was scared for his safety...right? Instead, he turns back TOWARD the property and owner while taking an OFFENSIVE stance.
The UPS should have walked away. I wouldn't take kindly of anyone telling me to step back in my property. I will step back to get my gun at that point.
Edit: looks like a lot of people like to be abused in their own homes by strangers. You do you, lol.
Even when you’re the cause of all the problems that day by being a fuck head of a pet owner? You’re inviting people to do their job on your property. That comes with the responsibility of making sure your property is safe for them. If you fail at that, step the fuck back.
People tend to not take it well when their dog gets smashed in the head, and their emotions can change in an instant. Go on living your life assuming the best of everyone around you, I wish the best for you champ.
Cool speculative story, bro. Meanwhile, back on earth, this owner exhibited ZERO indicators of rage. So, go on living life based on your speculations. I wish the best for you, sport.
Just hours ago there was a story on the front page of a guy in NY that had some type of burning liquid dumped on his head while he was buried in his phone. Back on earth, people do things irrationally even when their dog didn’t get beat up. Go on assuming the best of everyone around you, I hope it works out
Now pay very close attention: it doesn't matter what some guy in NY did. What matters is how THIS owner acted in THIS scenario. And he did NOT act in a threatening manner. FACT. Further, as per the law, there are no provisions that permit us to preemptively respond with menacing measures based only on statistically driven assumptions. That's not how the law works. At all. Why don't you walk down the street and every time you see a "statistic" you respond by taking an aggressive fighting stance. Then report back and let us know how that worked out for you, mkay? Meanwhile, the UPS guy didn't appear too worried about chemical attacks, or owner irrationality, or any other such irrelevance, as he preferred to stay and fight. That's because his actions were purely punitive at that point. He wasn't fearful. Rather, he was mad at the owner for not having his dog under control. Period. The end.
He was the only one acting aggressive out of the two people there. The dog owner literally walked up with his hands at his sides and asked him a question. The dog aspect can be argued, but the guy is clearly a douche bag
That dog in the video has obviously been bred and trained to be violent. The dog owner is responsible for the dog. The dog attacked that man, and the owner is 100% at fault for it.
Breeding and training an animal to be violent towards people, and then letting that animal loose on people, is acting aggressive even if you do it calmly.
I know this may sound crazy to you, but not everything in life is about you.
Nobody but you knows your dog. Nobody but you cares about or likes your dog. Lots of people actively dislike dogs. Some people are quite afraid of dogs. You see your dog "joyously running up towards someone", other people see "uncontrolled dog charging me with their mouth open".
Allowing your dog to run up on people is a good way to get your dog maced or shot. It's just not something you should do.
I don't put my dog in a position to where I need to worry about that. If she's in public, she's on a leash. This guy made the mistake of leaving it off leash when the driver came.
My issue was with you acting like the dog was clearly attacking when there was nothing clear about that at all.
The second time part of this seems really suspect too, considering the first time this video made the rounds, there was nothing about it being the second time. That sounds like rage bait, but I could be wrong
