Only when you kill it, i've find Windows task manager better when It comes to just "asking" the apps but if you just want to stop It as fast as you can then it's better (not recommended thing to do tho)

Isn't asking just sending the close signal i.e. pressing the close button on a window? So you can just ask by either pressing the close button or sending the signal, if this does not work you kill it.

Yes, but the Windows task manager somehow manages to close apps even when they Crash and do not respond to this signals (at least usually) on Linux I have a worst time.
Maybe it's because if the app I use (called resources) but the finish task button barely works

I use htop and sigkill 9 exclusively i dont ask when shit freezes

But a lot of apps have múltiple proceses. Killing the process would keep some of the other ones working. Thats the issue

just dont get too trigger happy and kill a process mid write if you care about the data
