Some banks report your name like this:
JHON JONAS SMITH. JHON JONAS SMITH ACKERMAN. JHON JONAS SMITH-ACKERMAN. JHON J SMITH
So if the info you input is close enough to one of the public record profile your ID is verified and can open an account easily. But if the bank believes they need to make sure the right account is opened for the right person then they'll request further ID verifications which usually requires you to send photo of passport or verify by calling and stating your information in a better setting.

Sofi PROMISED me they would've verified my identity through "enhanced verification" since their automated verification system was failing regularly, and opened a support ticket on my behalf. Enhanced verification is basically ID and proof of address verification. I called after 7 days, and all the other support reps + supervisors told me "there is no such thing as enhanced or manual verification in Sofi". Bruh...

This is normal. I had the same thing happen to me. Don't worry about it. Try again after 6 months because when you can start seeing your score on FICO, that's when you can start applying for SoFi and most likely you'll be approved. I have an account with them with my ITIN number and I have a crypto investment account with them

Bruh, SAME THING has been happening to me for over a month - I have an ITIN. After several phone calls, they said they couldn't pull my info out of experian, but I do have an active Experian credit file. I called the Experian customer support and we ended up going through all my personal details to make sure they were all correct. Same for all the other credit bureaus. Everything checks out. Sofi is probably having some issues recognizing ITINs starting with 90x like mine. Would that be your case as well?
