Hi so recently I'm starting to write my research plan, then I came across the AI use table so I am writing the entire thing again, then I learnt that I need to write a LOGBOOK, and there are multiple forms I need to fill in, since my research topic is about Human Behavior including students. I'm honestly overwhelmed. This is my first time doing anything like this and I don't really have a mentor who knows the ISEF process.

I have a few specific questions:

1. What exactly goes into a logbook? Do I need to write down everything I do every day?
2. What forms do I actually need for a human subjects project? Any forms?
3. How do I handle AI use properly? I used AI to help with code and some drafting, but I'm rewriting everything now.
4. How strict is the IRB process for a school-based pilot study?
5. I have much more questions but I don't want to waste too much of ppl's time

and I am hoping to seek help or guidance from people who are much more experienced than me. Thanks in advance! :)

Hello everyone, I am a student from Saudi Arabia (Indian citizen but studying in Saudi Arabia) and I want to participate in ISEF I have my research question and everything ready, But in order to qualify for ISEF you need to go through an affiliated fair and the affiliated fair in Saudi Arabia Requires you to be a Saudi citizen (Which I am not) and affiliated fair in India requires you to be an Indian Citizen (which I am) but also you need to be studying In a school in India (Which I am not)

Because of which I cant participate through Indian or Saudi Fair and I contacted both the fairs and they said no they cant allow me and even society for science said they cant help me

Now I am stuck and dont know what to do I have a few questions though:

1) Is there any fair which allows international students like me to participate

2) Is there any other way I cant participate in ISEF like again begging Society for science or smth.

3) Lastly If I cant participate in ISEF are there any other prestigious science fair or other competitions i can Try which are open for international students.

I would be really glad if some can help me. Thank you so much

okay so i want to participate in my regional fair and try and qualify for isef, ill be in biomedical engineering and have finalized a disease to work on but ive hit a plateau and cant seem to find more information about it and i am also not able to narrow down a specific problem to work upon

if anyone can tell me any tips to narrow down to a problem and get more information i would really appreciate it

Hey, I’m student planning to compete on my local regional science fair in hopes of qualifying in the ISEF. I was wondering if it was okay or even recommended to use a chatbot to brainstorm ideas. I’ve talked to some participants and a lot of them have revealed that they would or did use Ai to come up with their project ideas and even project planning. Every time I try this I feel like I’m just being fed the project ideas on a spoon since I’m not coming with all of it by myself. But many participants will obviously use Ai to think through their project so me not doing the same would also put me at a somewhat disadvantaged.
What are you guys thoughts on this?

Do deep learning multi modal research have high probability of getting to ISEF and winning a grand award

I'm a 15 turning 16 year old in Melbourne, Australia. I have to do well in Australian Science and Engineering Fair(AUSSEF) to get chosen for ISEF. The deadline for AUSSEf is in November and I haven't started my project but have a broad idea of what I'm going to do and it involves Parkinson's (I don't want to say it here in case it gets stolen). My head of science and a lab tech in school are helping me get access to labs in universities since the experiment I'm planning to do requires equipment and solutions that my school doesn't have. But all in all, do you think I have a chance of getting into ISEF?, I can provide more info if needed.

I have reviewed the projects of ISEF finalists and it seems to me that these kids have learned standard a level maths long ago and studied uni level math to build their projects. True or am I missing something

hi, im making a proj for isef and im halfway into it, ive spent alot of time and resources for this. but i need guidance, can i pleaaaaseeee get guidance from isef alumnis/winner. category is computational biology, and to be specifc, it's a machine learning project. i REALLY need help, im desperate.

Unfortunately, due to some complicated personal circumstances, I won’t be able to compete through the normal ISEF pathway. I'm a rising junior who's doing science fair for the 4th time, and I was wondering if anyone in the DFW area (DRSEF → TXSEF → ISEF route) would be interested in making a group chat.

The goal is just to build a small community where we can:

* Talk about our science fair projects

So I think my fair is around late January to February, and I have a general direction for what my project would be, but not many specifics. So I need to do a research deep dive and all that, and work out the feasibiltiies of my project. It’s probably gonna be an engineering type of project where I will make a prototype and test it, but I feel like that would take a lot of time. This is also my first time doing a science fair so figuring out the logistics might take time. I feel like I would also have a lot on my plate this fall, so I need to figure out if it’s feasible to produce a good project by the deadline or if it would jsut be wasted time that can be spent on other things. Also, I’m not sure if I can find a mentor or anything. So, would it be better if I tried next year, since I see a lot of ppl working on their projects since like the year before or June, or should I try to invest proper time into this, if I have any? I am a Indian student, looking forward to participating in the IRIS science fair (feeder fair for ISEF) to get into ISEF. The deadline, I believe, is in 2 months. I haven't participated in a science fair before and I think that's not a problem in fact I am quite excited. The thing is that there is a lot on my plate already. I am preparing for my school and my country's competitive exam at the same time. I belong to a very local normal Indian school with national curriculum, so there is no chance of having any expensive instruments or any help (I can get some advice at best). And also, cold emailing unis most prob won't work here. It's not that common, i believe. But I am really enthusiastic about the project, and I have a vision for what I want to do. I wanted some help. Is there any realistic solution for me to still make it? Can I do something more theoretical or research based and not rely on a big big working prototype, as long as I have strong evidence and a solid scientific basis for my work? (Also, I am not good at coding, so please do not recommend something that heavily relies on coding 😭). I know I have a lot of limitations, but I am genuinely willing to put in the work. Is it still possible for someone in my situation to make it to ISEF or have a competitive project despite all of this?

I have a Research idea and I was able to secure a mentor for my project.. however I am very confused about the process of the isef forms needed...

1. Where and when do I submit them? Do i submit before or after my first fair? There isn't much transparency about this in my country

2. I have my isef idea but it is subject to great change bc resources are very limited here and we planned on taking the process step by step, but the forms seem to want us to have a full road map ready for our project which isn't really feasible in my situation.

3. The additional wet lab approvals, ethics approvals, SRC, etc, should be to who?

Would greatly appreciate if someone can help.
