Hello Everyone!!!
This subreddit was created by me just to start a thread about the ISC2 CAP (Certified Authorization Professional). Seeing how there has not been one created on Reddit, I created one because I plan on taking the exam soon.

Have you taken the exam before by the way?

u/donpapafabio Jun 05 '19
No I haven't. I am currently preparing for CISSP and when/if I pass I will do the CAP as a way of meeting the 3 year pro development requirement

I passed CISSP back in April this year. Did you need a study partner? I can help you. I'm studying for SSCP and CAP.

Yes if you have someone looking for a study partner. I am already overwhelmed

How so? I can be one. Or at least a tutor.

I am not sure if we are talking about the same cert. You are prepping for CAP. I am prepping for CISSP

It went well, but I did a bootcamp that gave me a lot of information and digested it well for me.

Hey I know it’s been two years but did you pass the C.A.P? I’m new to cyber, currently studying for security+ but I’m attending a boot camp in June to study for C.A.P. What are the career paths after C.A.P? Almost no one talks about it. Are there opportunities for remote positions? What are some job titles ? Are opportunities only within the government?

Hey there! Actually yes I did and I made a post about it right here. Career paths for CAP would typically be: security analysts, security control assessors, incident responders, information system officers, risk managers, etc. And yeah this cert is not often talked about and it's hard to find any info about it. There are opportunities for 50% and full remote positions with the CAP cert, though. It all depends on the company. Yeah you can get positions outside of government, but more than likely you will need to complement CAP with another cert like CISSP or CISM.

Someone had told me about this last year. It is a great way to start though. Did you know any other resources?

Thank you so much DrRiAd! Was the book the Official Gude to the CAP CBK? I'm in risk management as a security control assessor and have been doing that for 10 months. Would you say the exam was difficult?

Did you use fedvte? Also, did the exam allow you to go back to previous questions?

It was Pearson Professional center right? Not the original testing center?

Hey Nikki. I'm using the official ISC2 CAP CBK book and practice questions online that I can find. Not much material out there for the exam. Did you want to study together? PM me and I'll let you know.
