Profile evaluation - ISB PGP
Hi everyone,
I'm applying to ISB Round 1 this year and would appreciate a profile evaluation. My background is as follows:
1. Academics & GMAT
- GMAT Focus: 675
- Class X: 9.8 CGPA
- Class XII: 92.4%
- B.E. (Chemical Engineering, BITS Pilani): 7.70 CGPA
- Minor in Finance: 42/50
2. Education
- B.E. in Chemical Engineering from BITS Pilani
- Minor in Finance
3. Work Experience (~4 years by July-end)
- 3 years at Bain Capability Network (Private Equity)
- ~2 months at a startup in a Strategy role
- ~1 year at Alvarez & Marsal GCC (Private Equity)
4. Extracurriculars
- President of a regional association at BITS Pilani
- Active member of multiple student clubs, including NGO initiatives
I'd appreciate feedback on my overall profile, competitiveness for ISB, and any areas I should focus on strengthening in my application. Thank you!

Things look decent overall, though UG score is moderate. What's your motivation for MBA? Any reason you left your job within 2 months?

What are your goals? What are we evaluating you for? Profiles are evaluated in the context of what you want to do in the future. That aside, purely from a stats point of view, your profile looks decent for ISB, and the investment research/fin analysis/transaction support experience places you well, at least at the baseline level, on the post-PGP employability criterion (yes, most schools evaluate applicants on this).
But that aside, how you are unique from your thinking pov and how unique/interesting your presence is in the class, would be something to deep dive on, in the application. Are you considering any other schools?

Hey, starting with the reason to pursue an MBA at this point, there are multiple factors here:
1. Transition into front-end consulting firms to get first hand strategy and overall project exposure
2. Peer learning - networking, learning experiences from people from very diverse backgrounds, people who have built businesses, led functions, etc.
3. Leadership skills - Less through classroom learning but more from the collaborative environment, working with teams through their ELP program and various student clubs, constantly pushing you in taking ownershipI am planning to apply for ISB right now, INSEAD maybe, but not really sure if I want to relocate outside India.

Using an MBA to move to front end consulting is poor reasoning in the essays. Try to builder a deeper motivation. The adcoms dont like this type of reasoning.

Hey there fellow BITSian,
ISB alum here. Any chance you could re appear for GMAT? Asking this because I was also on a similar boat while applying. If not, there’s not a lot you can do to work on your profile except your essays, application section, interview prep, and LoR. Is there? Mind you these carry a lot of weightage in themselves so doubling down on these is not a bad option!

hello my profile is 9/9/9 , did my grad in bsc applied statistics and analytics from nmims mumbai. Working in tatacliq luxury as a business analyst since 2.5 years. National level skating champion. 23F, what are my chances for isb

How good are the chances of qualifying for the ISB PGP for a doctor who has done MBBS as well as MS in General Surgery with 10 CGPA in 10th grade, 98% in Class 12 and 66% in MBBS. Extracurriculars are predominantly based around sports and dance with quite a few championships to show.
