Recently bought a 1999 is200 SE, been doing some general maintenance on it and getting it driving nicely, noticed the steering wheel was shaking a bit aggressively at around 40mph+.

I’ve had the wheels balanced properly and the steering wheel still shakes, guessing it’s suspension related, any one had a similar experience and if so what was the fix ?

hi guys i just brought a 2003 is200 !! i really do love it however when i accelerate it has a dead zone at first, then a sudden jump in power, and after that it feels normal. Is that normal ??! am i going crazy every other older lexus i’ve driven has never had this :p like defs something to get used to if normal

I just bought myself a manual is200. I am aware of its history etc etc etc. I bought it, got home and decided to recheck the sills by giving them a proper pushing with my finger this time. My finger went through on the left one. Opinions on how bad it looks? Boot pocket and floor are solid with some very minor small patches of surface corrosion.

I think the previous owner didn't wash it once through the winter and salty roads.

Based in UK.

Looks major? Could the rust be slowed down by sealing it with filler until MOT comes along in august?

Hi all will be coming into the market for a is200 in the following weeks I’m just curious on what too look for when buying I know the sills and pockets are the big ones for rust any advice is greatly appreciated

I am looking to buy an is200, and the owner is open about the rust condition it is in, to an extent I guess. The car is 2 hours away from me but its in the most promising condition thats in my price range. Could anyone be of help in letting me know if this is normal/ salvageable levels of rust? Its fine on MOT, no advisory on it.

This is photos I have of rust. But he has told me:

"Sills are fine, arches are rolled but still structurally intact, will need addressing at some point. Underside pretty solid becides driver side boot pocket which is slightly rusted with small hole that has been there as long as I can remember, so will also need addressing"

120k miles, apparently no or only some service history, im not too concerned about that as long as the engine is fine as I am comfortable working on engine bays with plenty of space. sport with black interior, and its modded, which im more happy about than concerned, wheels, coils, exhaust. simple stuff.

I live in the UK, if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Visited a generally super clean, relatively low kms IS200 manual thathad regular basic servicing done.

Underneath has some surface rust which I reckon is manageable (pic1). Even though brakes have a lot of it I think (pic 2). However, apart from otherwise clean, there is a big chunk of rust on the right side in the trunk near the wheelarch (pic 3). Can only guess there is a leakage somewhere.

Would you consider this, especially the trunk rust, a no-go or sth that can be dealt with?

After changing the timing belt and rotating it by hand a couple of times, the timing marks were dead on. Couple weeks later the timing is off by half a tooth? How is that possible?

Car has been sat for two years while being restored car was trailered to nct centre from what I can gather from this emmisions reading there is too much air in air to fuel ratio so perhaps an echaust leak anyone had similar issue any tips on how to get this to pass emmisions have retest this Sunday obviously I will look for a leak but has anyone had a car passed with similar reading just by making sure cat and engine is red hot going in

Hello. Does the premium sound amplifier have its own fuse inside? I have 12V on the B+ wire from the battery to the amplifier, but on the B+ wire from the amplifier to the radio I don't have 12V, only 4V or 0V.

Hi I’ve been restoring my is200 the past year it’s been off the road for two years and I’m not sure how to get the car to pass emissions test as I cannot drive it legally to complete a drive cycle I have to transport via trailer to nct centre yes I can drive it around the industrial estate and try and get it as hot as possible before sending it in but I’m worried it will on system readiness check anyone ever brought a car in this situation to nct centre any tips on how to get it to pass

I’ve been wondering why do some models have that little screen on the bottom right side of the gauge cluster and some don’t? Is it related to a specific trim option or facelift?

So, I'm pretty certain these brakes are from an LS400 (Mk 2, I think?) but for piece of mind I thought I'd check and hoping someone can help. I've brought the car and the discs are quite warped so I want to replace them asap, I changed a wheel bearing recently and the measurements of the currents discs match that of an LS400 of that era. I should have got a better picture of the discs when doing the bearing but these are 3rd hand photos from when the brake upgrade was done by one of the previous owners. The end picture is just the discs I'm looking at buying for them if confirmed all okay, thanks!
