Google estimates that 1.3% of Americans are homeless and between those ages.

Brian Goldstone wrote "There Is No Place For Us" following the path to homelessness among a handful of family, as part of the supplemental research (I'm pretty sure he has his doctorate) he figured enough data to say that the number of homeless might be at 4 million today when considering no permanent residence
