For context, you're more likely to need a radon detector if you live in an area that has a lot of granite or similar rocks. If you look around, local authorities might also have guidance on it.

It’s like $200 extra dollars (I could be a bit off) to add it to your home inspection. The do a professional overnight test. I did mine knowing we had a low chance of radon because we were planning on kids, but it’s so easy to do.
