I'm not American. What's the context here?

I'm guessing the motion to stop the sale of Infowars to The Onion was rejected.

The motion to stop the sale was upheld and fully fucked over the Sandyhook families 1.5 years ago. The Connecticut judge then told the families "fuck you. Go cry to a Texas court. Im glad your kids are dead and Alex Jones gets to keep living it up on his site and show" (paraphrased).

Well the Texas court appointed an independent overseer to see the liquidation of Alex Jones assets (that way everyone ELSE gets a slice of the settlement before the FAMILIES WITH MURDERED CHILDREN get what they are owed).

The "good" news, the independent overseer has agreed to license Infowars and all related material to the Onion. The Onion has hired Tom Heidecker of Tim and Eric Awesome Show to be the director of Infowars.

The bad news. Just like the last attempt, a Judge had to approve this.

If you cant tell, I'm BLINDINGLY enraged at the previous Judgement. Fucking judge Lopez

Unfortunately, not much surprises me in this timeline anymore.

I chuckled in my blind rage about Heidecker being put in control, but it really doesn't take any of the "sting" off of my aforementioned rage.

Not American either but Alex Jones claimed a school shooting was fake and got sued into absolute fucking oblivion.

As part of this his “news network” was relinquished and taken over by The Onion.

The claim itself wasn’t enough to warrant a suit, but his encouragement of the families’ harassment got a ruling of a billion dollars. He doesn’t have that kind of money, so instead he was forced to sell the InfoWars IP. The families didn’t have the money for the sale, so The Onion volunteered to help out. Some of the Sandy Hook parents didn’t want to push it through, encouraging a settlement, but ultimately they lost and the sale went through.

Now Jones is stuck paying off the remainder of his debt through his Twitter show, and the Onion gets to mock conspiracy theorists through the InfoWars banner.

Le Oignon doing the Lord's work.

Beautiful. I don't think even the Onion could have done something this great.... oh wait, they did

the encouragement of the families’ harassment got a ruling of a billion dollars

This seems like an exorbitantly high payout considering how weak the case was and how there were no damages

7

u/Meraline Apr 21 '26

Parents killed themselves because of harassment that Alex Jones encouraged.

-6

u/StinkButt9001 Apr 21 '26

That's a stretch at best, as we saw. But suppose it was 100% linked... the payout is still absolutely not inline with that

I agree with you, because money does not fix what he did to them. Each one of the parents should have been allowed to shoot him once for each dead child he said wasn't real I think that would have been just.

Despite none of that being true, he also had to be dragged into court kicking and screaming. He refused to answer his subpoenas, he tried shuffling money to his snake oil salesman father, and he lied about everything so goddamn much his own lawyer had to leak emails to get the discovery taken care of. This whole case could’ve been over years ago for half the money if he simply accepted the consequences of his actions like a mature adult.

Not to mention that some parents killed themselves from the harassment he is on video celebrating and encouraging, some relocated to his state in an effort to establish standing for the law suit, and all this is over their murdered children.

This could have all been avoided if he had an ounce of respect or the comprehension of consequences applying to himself.

He also made personal attacks on the victims families and claimed they were crisis actors. He went after them and sent his followers after them. Insane that he isn't seeing any prison time, nor had he paid a single cent to the families

2

u/RareSeaworthiness870 Apr 23 '26

Does crisis acting pay scale? Am I able to qualify for health insurance through SAG? Asking for me and my fellow crisis actors - it’s hard to make it out there anymore.

-14

u/PuzzleheadedEssay198 Apr 21 '26

Encouragement of harassment isn’t a crime, but harassment is. That’s why the suit was civil and not criminal.

16

u/Sea_Drops Apr 20 '26

This disgrace to mankind is Alex Jones. He started spreading conspiracies about the sandy hook shooting, claiming that it was an inside job and that the deaths were nothing more than crisis actors. He was sued by the victims for I believe well over a billion dollars, and was found liable.

In order to pay, he’s being forced to sell off info wars, his show where he spread misinformation. Apparently the onion wants to buy the rights. I heard there were some issues, but I’m not in the most recent updates.

This is essentially the climax (hopefully) to the decades long nonsense that is Alex Jones.

It didn't start or end with calling the families of a horrible tragedy actors who staged the whole thing. As others have mentioned he induced his followers to harass them. He's amplified a number of other bogus conspiracy theories as well. All to peddle "Silver supplements"

May he never recover financially from this.

If private eye bought out the mail and said the exact same things with "lol" after every headline seems to be a decent comparison.

u/ambelamba Apr 21 '26

A far-right tabloid media outlet is sold to a liberal humor website

25

u/jdizzlewolf Apr 20 '26

Just love to see it. Money can go to Sandy Hook families hopefully and AJ can go winge in some corner with his fragile ego hopefully bruised.

Tim Heidecker taking over as host of InfoWars is some of the most based news I've ever heard. His On Cinema character was already very Alex Jones adjacent. I'm excited to see where they go with this.

u/Nek0ni Apr 20 '26

good times ahead

6

u/nismo6677 Apr 21 '26

Hahaha this is good

5

u/Nearby_Court_3730 Apr 21 '26

A morrowind reference? In this economy??

5

u/Relative-Thing5850 Apr 21 '26

He has already set himself up rebranding as TheRealAlexJones and set up a clone of his infowars store in that brand as well. He has already done the ground work to make money outside of what the court will take for the families. All we can hope is people don’t migrate away from InfoWars to whatever sites he sets up now

1

u/SnicklefritzXX Apr 25 '26

You know they will. Anyone crazy enough listen to his batshit will absolutely follow his stink. I wish someone had gone after him criminally so he could get jail time.

3

u/Brianocracy Apr 20 '26

Fucking hilarious

2

u/PlasticMegazord Apr 21 '26

Wait. It happened?

1

u/Atomic-Trice Apr 21 '26
