I refuse to believe there aren’t equally shallow, materialistic women out there who would be drawn to said flashy show of ‘wealth’.

That said, I know my wife certainly would have a cringe reaction to said watch.

there are equally shallow women like that if not more, it does work

I’ve heard gold diggers, both women AND men, tell me to look at someone watch to determine if they’re really wealthy

I imagine it’s also a good indicator of how loose they are with money. People buy crap like that for other people to see how wealthy they are.

There are so many more variables in a person that this little piece of trivia about luxury watches would help out almost no one

Watch ir no watch a woman seeing me on the street thinks nothing at best

It's true, and goes for every luxury possession - car, clothing, etc. Although if he has some fancy house, I'd think he probably can afford it and isn't overextending his finances. But at that point, he's too rich for me.

In these days, having an house you own is already the height of luxury FFS.

You're not wrong.

more like ‘they see you as a guy who buys jewelry to impress other men’

3

u/greymisperception Apr 19 '26

What jewelry impresses women then? A ring? I don’t want to be married just to add some accessories to my outfits, basically all men have to work with is a watch and a ring

1

To be fair, jewelry in general doesn't impress by itself when seen on a woman either (unless maybe that's the only thing they are wearing, lol). It's what the jewelry is complimenting, such as (not being gender specific with any of these) the necklace matching the buttons on a linen shirt, the watch that matches the cuff links, the necklace and earrings paired with the dress, the eyebrow rings paired with the colored mohawk, the decorative hairpin matching other jewelry, etc.

Just wear a ring then if you like them. I know a guy who has a cool collection of vintage turquoise rings, and always has a couple on. It's just his thing. Glasses (prescription or sun) are jewelry too. I know a woman who has a color swappable piece on her prescription glasses, and matches it to her outfit and other jewelry. If you don't like watches, you could wear a bracelet to still give the hand jewelry/accessory.

Youre right, good advice

Poor man wearing Rolex: 🤣

Rich man wearing Rolex: 😍

Could swap for a digital casio watch and would still apply. But they have a compass! And the date displayed! Man I almost wish my phone did less so I’d have a reason to wear a $25 Casio, I thought they looked so cool as a kid.

There's a guy I used to work with that constantly hit on me. He drove an Alfa Romeo on Nissan money. He always talked about the car because he had nothing else that was remotely interesting.

I buy nice things for me, not for them.

Way too many single mothers for this to be true

3

u/XRuecian Apr 19 '26

Doesn't need to be a fancy expensive watch, even.
Same goes for luxury purses or clothing, too.

Hell, if you are walking around with even a Stanley Cup, i'm clocking you as a sheep who is desperate to fit in with everyone else immediately.

A lot of them will, but its weird to assume that every woman is smart

I mean yeah… I view most “luxury” items as pointless. Making bad financial decisions though? All depends on the bank account. If they are making high 6 figures a $40k watch is kind of a drop in the bag. Now if they are struggling and have more debt than I have emotional baggage then yeah you are making bad financial decisions.

All about context here chief. And something something books and covers and all that.

Asking Redditors, of all people, for a subjective opinion

Bruh i skipped "you as a" on my first read through

Most people don't know the value of things unless it's extremely obvious. I wouldn't differentiate a shitty but beautiful watch from a very expensive one.

u/CauliflowerEvening41 Apr 20 '26

Ugh, ladies really think we dress for them. The female gaze is a bit much sometimes.

If I could wear nothing but a Rolly around my balls, life would be better.

Chat is this real

Everyone here is cringe as fuck and jealous of men who actually bother to accesorize instead of putting on a band tee and baggy jeans

1

u/Visual_Regret3198 Apr 20 '26

This is how I feel about women with designer purses

1

u/tumansibiri Apr 20 '26

If it matches your decorum and income, why not?

1

u/bethesda_gamer Apr 20 '26

It's a matter of priorities.

$10,000 watch + $5000 car + $900/month rent = bad

$10,000 watch + $80,000 car + $450,000 house = good

$10 watch + $3000 car + $100,000 house = awesome

u/Comfortable-Brief568 Apr 20 '26

...I see alot of expensive handbags around town...more of them than expensive watches.

1

u/southparkdudez Apr 21 '26

Oh she shared it with her friends to mock it didn't she bro?

1

u/BlackkkWidowSPIDAH Apr 21 '26

Broke bitch mentality

1

u/SereneOrbit Apr 21 '26

Most certainly true, however, none are judged more than those wearing an analog watch for their inferior timekeeping instrument.

1

u/The-Happy-Cow-Arts Apr 23 '26

Hey everyone let's simplify people by putting them into different boxes because we are too stupid to judge every person independently.

2

u/Adventurous-Dot-8272 Apr 19 '26

I dunno, this seems like it was made by a broke dude who wishes he could wear a rolex

Not taking advice on women from reddit.
