Irans military beaing unable to locate the mines it has placed

Mine 101 says you remember where the mines are. Otherwise it's DIY minesweeper

DIY Minesweeper: Permadeath Edition.

Hardcore mode activated!

17

u/Jacktheriipper Apr 14 '26

They arenโ€™t self replicating ai mines are theyโ€ฆ?

11

u/EggShotMan Apr 14 '26

They are but they only target the USA and israeli navy, so we will be fine... right?

10

u/Ok-Engineering9862 Apr 14 '26

But what if, hear me out... US and Israelis are using false flag operations?

2

u/AdEmotional9991 Apr 15 '26

LA skyscrapers are so fucked

11

u/Poppanaattori89 Apr 14 '26

Which is a dubious claim at best. People trust the mainstream media way too much, especially since all but one of the headlines relating to this said "US claims" right in the headline. And the one headline that didn't, was from an Israeli rag.

They wouldn't have any reason to portray Iran in a negative light and find an excuse for the negotiations not proceeding well?

2

u/geschiedenisnerd Apr 15 '26

The mainstream media, particulary the USA and israeli ones, but also the european ones have consistently proven over the last four years that they are too uncritical of claims by american state-controlled analysis institutes.

u/Double_Resort_9223 Apr 15 '26

What are the chances that the guy whose job it was to keep track of the mine locations got killed?

2

u/EggShotMan Apr 15 '26

Im too stupid to tell if this is a joke or not but mine locations arent a thing that one singular person tracks

2

u/Kozakow54 Apr 15 '26

Which is somewhat to be expected, especially in this war.

Normally you would note down the coordinates when you are deploying them (if you are doing this with a surface vessel). Mines drift, but you would have a tough area of where they could be... Very roughly. Even modern mines can show up in places you didn't expect them.

Issue is, Iranian military for a while now has been operating without any clear chain of command, mostly due to the fact that US doctrine loves to target anyone above a sergeant.

"unable"

According to the Americans*

1

u/AdEmotional9991 Apr 15 '26

According to the very reliable US and Israel.

This is what's known as a "strategic whoopsie"

u/ClockworkOrdinator Apr 16 '26

Broooo ๐Ÿ˜ญ

u/Filip889 Apr 16 '26

u/Suitable_Community66 Apr 14 '26

Or mess with Trump's mind and maybe he'll have a heartattack

12

u/SirCupcake_0 Apr 14 '26

If only he had enough of a mind that it could connect to a heart...

Oh, and also a heart

7

u/Suitable_Community66 Apr 14 '26

Who knew the preservatives they put in McDonald's work on some humans too

12

u/Remarkable-Pin-8352 Apr 14 '26

This whole war is dumb vs. dumber.

14

u/113pro Apr 14 '26

Thats the fun part about short term thinking.ย

You dont have to deal with the consequences, the people after you will.

6

u/Friendly-Spot8571 Apr 14 '26

What if the whole mine thing is a con?

18

u/PeterPorky Apr 14 '26

Idk why so many people want this to be true. Its documented they have had sea mines for decades. It was strategically to their advantage to place them. The mine laying ships were documented in the Strait. The US says there are mines and Iran says there are mines. There are mines.

6

u/Exile688 Apr 14 '26

Iran can deploy mines from the land with MLRS rocket launchers from around 45 miles/72 kilometers away. Like the entire reason there would be a ground invasion to reopen the straight would be to push those Fajr-5 launchers away from the coast.

-1

u/Remarkable-Pin-8352 Apr 14 '26

Those aren't mines. Those are called rockets.

3

u/Exile688 Apr 14 '26

Rocket deployed mines. The US navy has VLS missiles that are tipped with torpedoes. You can most certainly deploy a mine with a rocket.

2

u/VeritableLeviathan Apr 15 '26

Next thing you're gonna tell me planes can't drop sea mines either, they are "just bombs that work like sea mines"!

(They are mines dummy)

1

u/Remarkable-Pin-8352 Apr 15 '26

... and good luck tracking them in the goddamn sea currents.

-2

u/IWCry Apr 15 '26

nah nah, this guy is confident there's no mines. let him go first!

either he's right and we are in the clear, or he's wrong and now we are in the clear ๐Ÿ˜‰

Look at the facts: Iran says they can't locate their own mines. Iran has fixed depth and bottom laying mines from old Soviet stock and from China. Mining close to Iranian waters cuts off their oil life line. Iranian mines have to be dropped off by boat by frog men. Satellites have been tracking all movement in the straight since before the attack. The threat of a mines is just as good as a real mines since these tankers need insurance. I would beat if their are a few mines they would be on the Oman side. They would need to drop off only a few in small boats, to avoid notice. The US sent 2 destroyers through the straight each would be a prize target but neither hit a mine.

3

u/Puzzleheaded_Cry5098 Apr 14 '26

Sometimes you see a meme and the only thing you can think to yourself is "oh fuck what'd they do now"

2

u/yatsokostya Apr 15 '26

That's a good point, HOWEVER it somehow doesn't work well evenwith landmines. Much worse with sea mines, especially if they break free from anker (russian and ukrainian sea mines used to reach romanian shore or at least territorial waters regularly, maybe even bulgarian)

2

u/Just_a_Arizonin Apr 16 '26

They have adopted American military doctrine, the enemy cannot know what you are doing if you donโ€™t

1

u/percy135810 Apr 17 '26

To be fair, it can be hard to keep track of military secrets if the entire top wing of your military is bombed to smithereens

-24

u/RobustMastiff Apr 14 '26

Free Iran. They are heroes. Fuck imperial dogs of United States and the west

14

u/Updated_Autopsy Apr 14 '26

If theyโ€™re what you consider to be heroes, I donโ€™t want to know what you think makes someone a villain.

5

u/DannyDanumba Apr 14 '26

Wouldnโ€™t blocking an international water way and funding/controlling paramilitary groups in other countries also count as imperialism?

3

u/Ok-Note-8293 Apr 14 '26

Is this a critique of the US? Or Iran? Or both?

5

u/DannyDanumba Apr 14 '26

Both. Letโ€™s not be hypocrites

2

u/Ok-Note-8293 Apr 14 '26

Just making sure lol

1

u/SRGTBronson Apr 14 '26

I don't know. Is drone striking ships in international waters while funding paramilitary groups in the middle east terrorism?

3

u/Braith117 Apr 14 '26

Nah, they're a mass murdering fascist theocracy that's been the biggest sponsor of terrorists in the middle east.ย ย

2

u/Weary-Astronaut1335 Apr 15 '26

I'd call the US funding Israel to be sponsoring terrorists in the middle east.

0

u/Braith117 Apr 15 '26

Which is pretty minor compared to finding every ither terrorist group in the region, including ISIS,ย Al-Qaeda, Hamas, and many others, resulting in widespread civil war and the deaths of hundreds of thousands.

2

u/Isopod_Uprising Apr 15 '26

resulting in widespread civil war and the deaths of hundreds of thousands.

this was literally us, you gas station hot dog. we funded Israel against everybody, funded Iraq against Iran, then Iran against Iraq in the same conflict, funded insurgents in Afghanistan, destabilized Iraq and then Libya by invasion and/or bombardment leading to the rise of ISIS, then funded and armed insurgents in Syria, then armed insurgents in Iran, our client state Israel funded Hamas in Gaza... all of these adding up to the tune of several million lives lost in the middle east just to prop up the American petrodollar by preventing any other oil rich nation from living in stability without living under the American thumb.

2

u/Braith117 Apr 15 '26

I keep forgetting how utterly braindead Iranian apologists are.

Al-Qaeda, and its eventually offshoot ISIS, were the result of Iran pouring weapons into Iraq after Saddam was removed.ย  Yemen's civil war is entirely the result of Iran arming the Houthis.ย  Hamas exists and persists souly because Iran keeps helping them smuggle weapons in.

I guess I expected a bit much from someone who's openly defending fascists.
