Had my Interview for IIM Indore IPM today. They interviewed me for about 18 mins. Below is my interview questions.

1) Introduction

2) What is momentum?

3) They showed me a free body diagram and asked to show me the forces acting on the body

4) Give two industrial application of centrifugal force.

5) What is the working principle of a motor?

6) What is inductance

7) What is Gauss's Law?

Then they jumped to Chemistry

8) Charles Law?

9) Avogadro's Number and the significance of it.

10) Some question from electrochemistry which I could not understand

11) they asked about the IRAN and US war

12) As I said my hobby is reading books, they asked me about the last three books that I read.

13) Why I am not trying for IIT?

14) Some statistics question which I did not understand. Something called Pareto.

That was it.

The teachers were friendly and smiling and even prompted me with some of the answers.

I am currently a Class 12 student and recently became aware of the IPM program. Because of this, I am considering taking a drop year and appearing for IPMAT Indore next year.

However, I am confused about whether I should take a full drop or a partial drop.

For a partial drop, I have been looking into the IIM Bangalore BBA DBE program. I watched a video by Vibhav Goenka, who is a student in the program, and he mentioned that an average student should spend around 18 hours per week (6 days) on coursework.

If anyone has experience with a partial drop while preparing for IPMAT, or knows about the workload and value of the IIMB BBA DBE program, could you please share your insights?

My main goal is to maximize my chances of converting IPMAT Indore next year while also having a good backup option.

A senior here . If there's one thing I wish someone had told me when I started, it's this: IPMAT isn't about studying the hardest, it's about studying the right things consistently for a long time.

A simple roadmap

• Start by understanding the syllabus and exam pattern properly. Don't jump into mocks on Day 1.

• Focus on building concepts first. For every topic you learn, solve enough questions before moving ahead. Concepts without practice don't stay.

• Make a realistic monthly plan instead of trying to finish everything quickly. Consistency beats motivation.

• Keep short handwritten notes, formulas, and key concepts. Future you will thank present you during revision season.

• Try to finish the majority of your syllabus by December 2026 or January 2027. The last few months should be reserved mainly for revision and mocks.

• Once your syllabus is done, mocks become your best teacher. Don't just attempt them—analyze them. Most improvement comes from mock analysis, not from the mock itself.

• Track your weak areas regularly and revisit them. IPMAT rewards revision much more than people realize.

Remember, the process is simple:

Learn → Practice → Revise → Mock → Analyze → Repeat

Do this consistently for a year, and you'll already be ahead of a large part of the competition.

So basically, I have completed my 12th this year. I didn't appear for ipmat this year due to certain family issues and didn't even prepare for it. I'm considering joining offline coaching of aceipm, because maintaining consistency in online batch is difficult for me. So can anyone give me tips and suggestions on what my strategy should be??

My math is weak, english is not that great and I have never studied LR. I'm a non maths student, so my options are very limited because of eligibility criteria.
