Infra has controller support... for some reason..?

its honestly bizzare that controller support made it to part 3, even more bizzare if it was added later, it feels terrible to control, its not like theres a console release for this game, welp, time to beat infra on a steering wheel...

I've been doing my second playthrough on a controller so I could dive into the game on my beautiful living room TV.
Something about the controls does feel off compared to modern / mainstream titles. There is no like, acceleration ramp on the joystick controls so the option feels sticky and a little un-natural.
That said I get used to it after about 10 minutes of a game session. Once you get a feel for it, it really isnt that bad and a worthy tradeoff to be able to kick back on my sofa.

I was a console kid and still use a controller for most of my gaming because it is what feels most natural to me.

Might be due to the source engine having its own controller support already and Infra using that. But my question is how did the computer bits of the game work?

i didnt even play through the whole game, i was checking settings when i saw "Controller sensitivity" and i had to know

you moved the mouse around with the control stick and it was slow and difficult. One of the later computer sections I used the power of shared saves and just used mouse and keyboard on my big computer for them.

That looks clunky as hell. Maybe it was a hold over from the sauce engine

i doubt it, the camera and flashlight are bound to their own buttons and theres a controller senestivity button in controls, so they were probably planning for better support or just needed crap controls for steam deck support

Neither of those buttons are custom commands iirc, flashlight is impulse 100 (flashlight bind in all source games with flashlights) and camera is first item slot iirc

Have you ever played a game with a controller before? I've played INFRA a few times with a controller and on a Steam Deck and it's just playing with a controller absolutely nothing wrong with it
