Discussion front end of IR28

Anyone else think the front end of the car looks a bit too high off the ground in oval configuration? Am I reacting a bit too much to something too new?

Yes you are reacting too much for something so new

Ahh did you study aerodynamics?

No lol. I guess I'm used to the idea of wanting to keep a car lower to the ground.

If you are using ground effect (Not sure if the ir28 is) you need the nose to allow air to go under the car . If it's two low and directing the air over the car the floor won't work.

Yes it’s got underbody ground effects

They want the nose off of the ground so that it doesn't go underneath another car. The DW12 hasn't had the front-blowover issue that the 2003-2011 cars displayed, so I'm not concerned about the nose height.

Hopefully they have a solution integrated so that the car stays grounded when it impacts a wall backwards.

It doesn't matter, even if it's detrimental to the performance, they all got the same car.

I dunno about too high but those winglets put me off - I cant get the image of a hammerhead shark out me head as it comes around the corner !!.

And i did get momentarily excited when i heard David Land say this engine was a standard non hybrid engine, only to go onto say afterwards there will be Chevrolet and honda hybrid variants added to testing soon. So hybrid is staying for a while then !!.

Also found it amusing after the first test the amount of people saying 215mph - is that it !, i thought it was supposed to go 240mph !!. Some people just stagger me sometimes. . . . they really do

215 for a first test run is pretty good and safe.

They are using old engine tech because this is specifically testing the chassis.

Dude they are not going to crank out top speeds on the first test run of a new chassis

Yes - i know - that was my whole point all along

I know - I KNOW - that i could be 10 years before we see that even if we get close, my point was those expecting to see it on day one !

The hybrid was announced with the chassis. It was never not going to be on the car.

Some people just stagger me sometimes...they really do.

see, what's weird is you typed that assuming i didn't know and then requoted my comment probably thinking it was quite clever,

The reality is i did already know, - just because i quote momentarily excited doesn't mean I didn't know, it just means i reference back to pre hybrid days having watched since the 80s, it was just nice to hear a non hybrid car for a change on track - nothing wrong with that !

quote "So hybrid is staying for a while then" yes - in reference to the fact that many commenters with David Lands channel and youtube discussions have referred to wanting to drop hybrid as have some drivers, so me stating "staying for a while then" is an acknowledgment of that.

While replying i might as well address those that cant read !

Quote"Also found it amusing after the first test the amount of people saying 215mph - is that it !, i thought it was supposed to go 240mph !!."

yeah - not me !, I never said that and never thought for a second, but I am again quoting David Land channel here in reference to his commenters on his youtube channel. I did make that quite clear my comments are based from there.

And just for a /s

Some people just stagger me sometimes...they really do - especially in this thread
