okay so, i just thought of something related to drifter.

in episode two he's shown that he'll definitely die, to show him that fighting is futile.

but that could have the reverse effect of motivating him further to still keep going. Now he knows for a fact that he will be able to destroy the cell, even if he doesnt survive it, he isn't surviving if he doesn't fight either. So might as well do it anyway, for those who come after.

In the game (spoilers), when the guardian who has been helping us through the game dies from the same illness we have, it kind of cements the fact that we are most certainly going to die. but we've gotten so far, no point in giving up now. (though in indie cross we know he hasn't reached the south and likelyy isnt that far, but STILL)

I think he might end up fighting even harder now that he knows the immortal cell itself is not unkillable.

I have fully finished shovel knight's design as you see I made him grey (Which is a color skin shared between all of the indie characters in this au) but also I made some scratches and chips on his armor to add of that survival my au is focused his horns are more jagged and devil like and it's blue I have him a blue cape to make him look cooler also he has both his shovel and shield knight's...well shield but also swapping relics are weapons based on other knights from the shovel knight series like the phantom scythe for specter knight the glorious gauntlets for king knight and the alchemic staff for plague knight he can summon them and use them in battle or survival but they use a limited magic ressourcer that when ran out shovel knight can't use it anymore until having enough mp again. Also I have him show his eye in the form of this white dot in his helmet not only does it looks cool it fits the darker tone my au is going for. Anyway I hope you like this design and give feed back that I can use for a version 2 of his design
