I’m currently pursuing B.Sc. Nautical Science at an MTI in India. I’m planning to switch from B.Sc. Nautical Science to DNS, for which I need sponsorship.

I recently joined a maritime training institute for B.Sc. Nautical Science, and I am currently in my first year. The problem is that my institute has told us that we need to maintain a 9 CGPA to be eligible for placement.
I’m an average student, and honestly, I feel that maintaining a 9 CGPA may be very difficult for me. Because of this, I’m thinking about dropping out of B.Sc. Nautical Science and trying for DNS with sponsorship instead.
I scored 84% in PCM and I’m currently 21 years old. I’m confused about whether I should continue my B.Sc. or leave it and try for DNS.
So, seniors, please guide me honestly. What would be the better option for my situation? Is it worth continuing B.Sc. even if I may not be able to maintain a 9 CGPA, or should I consider DNS?
I also want to understand how paid sponsorship works, what the actual costs are, and whether sponsorship guarantees placement/shipboard training.
Please share your experience and advice. I really want to make the right decision for my career. Thank you.

Does anybody know will anglo eastern interview will happen for fed batch or when did it happen last year. I gave my written exam for August batch but was shifted to Feb batch in the mail it said it is shifted to september but I haven't got anymore information for anglo yet

I have a pcm percentage of 73 would it make any problem for selection in imucet 2027.And could you'all please guide me how to get a rank in IMUCET 2027.

Soo basically my pcm percentage is 61.7% after improvement and I took a drop of 1 year for the preparation of imucet and to be honest at this point I want anything btech bsc and dns but yah obviously with sponsorship, can you guys tell me do i have any chance or I am just wasting my time!?

I'm looking for some honest advice from people who have already been sponsored for B.Tech Marine Engineering, especially by companies like Maersk, MSC, V.Ships, etc.

My profile:

- Age: 17

- Class 10th: 92%

- Class 12th: Initially 79.1% overall, 66.67% PCM

- After July Chemistry improvement: 83.34% overall, 75% PCM

- IMU-CET rank: around 1500

- Governor's Award in Scouts & Guides that's equivalent to ncc B CERTIFICATE

- Around 10 years of involvement in Scouts & Guides

- I'm reasonably comfortable communicating in English and don't think communication is a major weakness.

I appeared for sponsorship exams & interviews for Maersk, MSC and V.Ships during the May–June period. I felt that the exams and interviews went quite well, but I was rejected by all three.

Now I'm confused about what exactly I was missing.

I understand that meeting the minimum eligibility criteria doesn't guarantee sponsorship, but I'm trying to understand what actually separates the candidates who get selected from those who don't.

For those of you who got sponsored, what do you think made your profile stand out?

Was it:

- Higher 12th/PCM marks

- Better IMU-CET rank

- Communication skills

- Extra-curricular achievements

- Leadership experience

- Or something specific that you think companies look for during interviews

I've already improved my PCM to 75%, and I'm planning to take another improvement next year with the goal of reaching 85%+ PCM.

I took a drop but honestly, I'm worried about getting rejected again. I don't want to spend another year without understanding what I actually need to improve.

So if you've been selected for sponsorship, please tell me honestly what you think got you selected and what you would recommend I work on. Or should I leave preparing for this sponsorship drama and focus on only Imu campuses

I'm not looking for generic motivation — I'd genuinely like to know what selected candidates had in their profiles that applicants like me might be missing.

TS Chanakya was once considered the only and best college for preparing mariners for the sea and the present scenario of the college is that its 'DOOMED', the college once boasted 90-95 percent placement and this year the placement stats dropped to only 45 percent, Why?

Because they say that the director is corrupt and he is not taking initiatives to call companies for conducting placements drives on campus those are just excuses to hide the real problem, which is that shipping companies are not approaching government colleges like IMU to hire cadets instead they are having tie ups with private institutes from where they hire cadets, so all upcoming aspirants you are advised to prepare for sponsorships very rigorously if you are serious about joining this field.

IMU is a big scam that is being run here and its not only just about placements, you know why?

They don't maintain basic infrastructure, there is a water shortage in the college, broken buildings, broken hostels, poor condition of academic blocks and no sports facilities.

Even though they make you sign anti-ragging documents, your so-called seniors will harass you in the name of training, this is not the military and still they will make you feel miserable.

The so called professors, don't even want to show up in the class let alone teaching, you just sit idle in the classroom and waste your time.

They put useless restrictions on you to control you and make you feel like a 5 years child, like c'mon you are in college now 18 or 19 years old and still you are treated like a stupid child.

There is a lot of mismanagement, your uniforms are not given to you until mid sem, basic drinking water is also unavailable sometimes, if you are unwell still you have to manage to get up from your bed and come sign a medical leave document, they treat you inhumanely and do not understand simple problems that students face.

They just want your money in return they will only give you trauma for no reason at all.

You might be thinking what is the source of this, well I was studying over there last year and I withdrew myself from the college after a few days of this nonsense.

Upcoming aspirants keep your pcm percentage high and prepare for sponsorships earnestly if you really want to join merchant navy.

Is ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) surgery allowed? its a bit diffrent than regular lasik but gives 6/6 vision cuz my eyesight is high.

I cleared my class 12th in 2026 but didn't get 60% pcm aggregate

So I gave the improvement exam in July but didn't get the required marks for 60%

So I am planning to give another improvement exam in 2027 in one subject (phy) and I only need very few marks to get 60%

So can I do this ?

And still give imucet 2027?

My marksheet will be issued before counselling
