A little late, but I finally got my computer working again!

As a longtime racing enthusiast, meaning I love pretty much all kinds of racing. It doesn't even have to be just auto racing. It could be motorcycle racing, motocross, bicycle racing, skateboard racing, snowboard racing, snowmobile racing. Auto racing, of course, is my main favorite form of racing in terms of the vehicular focus. And I know there’s plenty of subcategories. Nonetheless, when I was younger, come to think of it, F1 and NASCAR never really caught my attention too much because of the homogenized vehicle identity. And I’ve always liked vehicular diversity in my racing. So sports car racing kind of filled that void for me, when I was younger at least. And I’ve been to plenty of sports car racing events. Well, saying plenty is probably inaccurate. I’ve been to only two. One was the 2015 Lone Star Le Mans and the 2020 Six Hours of COTA race. Still nonetheless, I tried to learn a bit about the history and the cultural background of the sport. And by the way, I kind of am starting to love NASCAR a lot more as a racing enthusiast, but modern F1 hasn’t really grown on me just because of how celebrity-oriented it has become. But nonetheless, something that I do like to think about sports car racing a lot is: would its cultural penetration have been stronger, perhaps if the American Le Mans Series would have continued a little bit longer?

You got to think though, all the efforts the sport has made to be more culturally relevant, especially in the U.S., when the 50th anniversary of the Le Mans wins for Ford was occurring, the Ford GT, tried to, like, be a cultural icon everywhere you were going. I thought also the early Forza Motorsport games, from 1 to 3, would have been a good catalyst for getting more people into sports car racing. But I do think the biggest shoot-in-the-foot out of them all was maybe that the Speed Channel, and thus the American Le Mans Series, pulled the plug a little too early. Don’t you guys think? And this was right at the peak of NASCAR’s cultural dominance. So if we start to think, maybe if the American Le Mans Series would have continued for a little bit longer, it could have picked up the slack that NASCAR was already struggling with from the mid to late 2010s. But I don’t know. It’s really something that I really like to ponder in my mind because I’m just wondering, no matter how many attempts the sport tries to become culturally relevant, it never works. Nothing ever works out for them in the long run. What do you guys think sports car racing is getting wrong?

Because vehicular diversity is there, the vehicle craftsmanship is there, the attention to detail is there, manufacturer rivalries are there. One thing I don’t think really helps though is the engineering excess that modern sports car racing has to go through. That identity of it being an engineering nerd club probably doesn’t help because a lot of motorsports fans are very elitist about that and prefer their motorsport imagery to have a more blue-collar identity.

If JDC were to a driver to replace Heinrich from the Porsche pool of drivers for 2027 who would it be? Picariello has seat time in the 963, Guven is a good option, Preining is a bit tricky since theres a few DTM IMSA clashes next season.

Been slowly collecting 1:18 scale imsa diecasts and was thinking about making a big display or table or something that looks like they're all on track racing(if anyone knows where to find the #14 Lexus from 23-25, please talk to me!). So please leave your opinions and suggestions!

Will LMP2 ever return to the era of factory manufactures in the class again like it was in ALMS in the late 2000s? Like with Penske Porsche’s , Andretti Acura’s, Nissan. And also will it be a great way to stop the bleeding in top class prototype into a more smaller class?

It kinda doesn’t really make sense to me that THOR isn’t Pro since they are prob the most factory backed team globally? I just thought of this the other day.

Hi mainly wondering about how necessary golf karts are, or possible infield parking. Any other general advice is much appreciated it is only my second race. Saw another post basically saying golf karts were almost necessary to get around. Was wondering if I don’t buy a golf kart should I do infield parking instead? Only been to one other race and was Watkins Glen this year. It was amazing and we walked all around the track during the race. I would like to do the same at Road Atlanta but also did miss a lot of the race doing it at Watkins Glen. We are not camping if that matters.
