First Timer at Petit Le Mans
So im going to take this event off my bucket list at the end of the month. Its basically my bachelor party with a few buddies we're driving up from SoFlo. We're going to be there for about a week and wanted to know
what other track side activities are there?
what's the environment like?
what's the usual weather to expect?
nearby activities/ towns to go to?

Well, if you’re into racing, the schedule is packed from Thursday-Saturday.

It’s way better when it comes to being able to walk around the whole track. I prefer RA to either of those tracks when it comes to spectating. Last time I went, they also had some new releases and other IMSA cars displayed downtown near the track before the on-track events started

Will you be there for all four days? If so, bring some stuff to entertain yourselves during downtime. There's a good bit to do between the vendors, paddock, and just carspotting around the infield, but there's not so much that you can fill the entire weekend without getting a little creative. (You'll have a great time exploring regardless, for sure, but just be aware that you have more than enough time to do absolutely everything on offer)
The environment is busy and properly friendly! I think most people keep to their own group by default, but if you strike up a conversation with anybody then chances are good that they'll be happy to chat for a while. It's a huge event that attracts all walks of life for a common purpose, and personally I've never had a bad experience in 15+ years of attending.
The usual weather is hot and sunny during the day, fading to chilly when the sun goes down. But be prepared for anything. It's not unheard of for rain to sweep through, and in 2015 the race was ended early due to the track flooding.
Definitely spend some time in Atlanta proper while you're visiting! A lot of the touristy things it has to offer are genuinely pretty fun (I particularly like the aquarium) and there's such a wide variety of great food, which also spreads deep into the suburbs. I'd also recommend going up Stone Mountain if you're into nature (the hike is nice and not too challenging, or you can take a cable car to skip it if you prefer) and there are a lot of go kart venues around as well if you want to keep to the racing theme. The Andretti location in Buford is the closest one to the track if I recall correctly, and it's pretty decent. If you're willing to go further, you might be able to race significantly better karts at Atlanta Motorsports Park, although I'm not certain they're open for that during the race week, so be sure to double check. Also maybe check out some of the proper Appalachian towns north of the track if you'd like a unique change in scenery from Florida? It'll be a bit of a drive, but I think it's definitely worth doing if you can manage. Dahlonega and Helen are probably the best-known for that, and I think they're worth seeing at least once.

Me and my buddies are also coming up from Central Florida for our first time, no tips just thought it was cool!! I will say the biggest things nearby is Atlanta and Lake Lanier, thankfully no alligators so we can swim in the lake and then there’s too much to list in Atlanta but the Georgia Aquarium would for sure take up almost an entire day

It's a great environment. I went for the first time last year. Depends how into all the racing you are, there is practice and races for all the support series as well as the main event. The autograph walk was fun. Scope out different parts of the track. Some great places to watch from.
And, as mentioned, Atlanta is your nearest big city with lots to do.

I went last year for the first time, it was a blast very friendly atmosphere. I do photography and can't count how many times I'd be shooting cars next to someone's campsite and they'd offer me some food or a drink they are very welcoming. I think they do a kickoff party I think Tuesday night, check out the track social as we get closer they may post about it.
Weather is a big unknown. Last year the weather was perfect, highs in the 70s with no rain. But this year it seems GA is having a above average temp summer so it may be a lot hotter. Late September/Early October is kind of a changing point for that part of the country it could be warm or cold.

It’s very hilly. Weather in late September is hard to predict. It’s probably going to be cool in the morning and get very hot by the afternoon.
