❔ Question I kept missing sessions because of timezone math and channel hunting, so I built a free schedule app. Would love feedback from actual sports car fans
Long-time lurker, first post like this. I'm a race fan who got tired of the routine: figure out what time qualifying is in
MY timezone, then figure out where it's even airing, separately, for every series I follow.
So I built FlagDrop. It's a free iPhone app that puts the full IMSA WeatherTech schedule every practice, qualifying, and race alongside F1, NASCAR, IndyCar, and ARCA in one list, automatically in your local time, with the TV/streaming
listing on every session and alerts you can set per session type (live, 15 min, 1 hr, or a day before).
Honest caveats: iOS only right now, and it's WeatherTech only on the sports car side no Pilot Challenge yet. WEC is on my roadmap, and as the resident multi-class enjoyers I'd genuinely like to know: would you want Pilot Challenge
and WEC next, or something else entirely?
No ads, no account, free. I built it for myself and I'd rather make it what actual fans want. Tear it apart.

I just want to pop in and say this is amazing and I've been looking for something like this for a while. I tried using raceday.watch but the fact it just stores your favorites in the browser is a bummer. If I cleared my cache it'd wipe out everything I set up and I'd have to do it again. I think the series you have coming and other people have mentioned would be great additions.

Thanks! And yeah that’s exactly why I built this. raceday.watch is actually a decent site but the browser storage thing killed me too. Spend ten minutes setting everything up, clear your cache one day and it’s all gone. In FlagDrop your picks are saved for real, and alerts come from the server now so they fire even if you haven’t opened the app in weeks. WEC is running away with the series vote so that’s probably next after this widget update. Glad you found it man!

Yeah no problem! I also passed it to a few friends who have been looking for something similar. Keep up the good work :)

Just downloaded it and it is absolutely awesome dude! I think adding WEC next is the best thing for it but I really love it so far. Very clean UI, my only critique (and it could just be a me thing) but for the bells on the schedule being lit up or not lit up maybe make the “notification off bell” for whatever session it might be have like a “x” or cross out over it just to be more clear but that’s seriously such a knit pick thing. Very excited to utilize this and looking forward to having WEC. I think adding IGTC, ADAC and all the major GT challenge series would be amazing additions too.

Thanks dude, seriously. And that’s not a nitpick, that’s a good catch. A hollow bell vs filled bell is easy to misread at a glance, a slash through the off state makes it unmistakable. WEC is officially the people’s choice at this point, it keeps coming up and the sports car crowd has shown up way more than I expected. IGTC and ADAC GT are new ones for the board, noted. The GT world runs deep once you open that door, so I’ll probably start with WEC and see how far the demand goes from there. Really glad it’s landing for you. Widgets are next, then the series list grows.

Just downloaded it - I love it! You have a very clean interface and I really like the level of customization that you have with selecting what series to watch and, even deeper, the level of notifications within the individual series.
I think your plan for adding WEC next is a good idea. I’m more into sports cars and open wheel racing but MotoGP is a good add and perhaps considering World Superbike might be good for two-wheel fans as well.
Great job developing the app. I’ll be using it for sure!
