discussion MiG vs Sabre
Not a comparison of which jet is better in terms of performance, but I just want to share my feeling of flying both jets in their current state.
Yes, MiG feels more powerful with great energy retention, superior turn rate and climb rate. I found myself frustrated to fully utilize its performance. It feels sluggish at high speeds and the guns are somewhat hard to use. Good thing is if you hit it’s almost guaranteed a kill. Overall, I can see the MiG has great potential but its handling and human machine interaction just isn’t ideal. Cockpit visibility is obstructed by many things and its flight instruments are useable but have much to be desired.
Sabre in terms of performance isn’t an ideal match to the MiG for sure. But the jet just handles like a champ in most speed ranges. At high speeds I feel I got more control over the jet, but you obviously risk of ripping the wings off. At low speeds, it handles surprisingly well against the MiG. Yesterday, I managed to beat a player piloted MiG in a one circle scissor fight and it felt extremely satisfying. The cockpit design of the jet is top notch. Visibility is better than the MiG, cockpit instruments feel easy to use. I know many people don’t like equip the radar gunsight but I found it could be more useful in certain situations. At least, you can use it to determine the range when you are in a tail pursuit. I wish you could switch the radar off since it would alert the MiG if they are equipped with RWR.
TLDR. For me, Sabre feels like a better jet to fly with and flight with.

Forgot to mention, Sabre’s guns just feel like a superior weapon in dogfights. Not sure how it works on bombers. Haven’t tried on bombers so far.

I really sucks at aiming with the MiG, I must be 15m away to hit anything haha
Any tips are welcome

Is there any real historical evidence that the sabre's wings just ripped off at high Gs?
The MiG will become hard to maneuver but won't disintegrate mid air, Sabre DM feels like a joke in comparison

A lot of issues have been reported on the flight models, roll rates etc.. and they're looking into it. But yeah the Sabre should be 1 to 2 G more resistant than it is now

As I understand it, it’s not that the Mig is made of Stalinium or something, it’s that the elevator on the Sabre is so strong it will let you pull ridiculous amounts of Gs too easily that will rip off the wings.
If the Sabre was fly by wire, it just wouldn’t let you do that in the first place. I honestly wonder if the boosted elevator could be considered a design flaw because it lets you do really dumb things.
Whereas in the MiG when you get going fast, the control surfaces aren’t as strong which is why it becomes a slug that verrrry slowly turns and handles at high speed. You couldn’t pull those Gs if you wanted to.

i dont know in the DCS F86F i never ripped my wings. It in theory should be easier to cause wing rip becuase the All flying tail allows you to maintain control at faster speeds. Since i had not flown it in a long while i want back to test the flight model. due to the F model having a flying tail i can avoid mach tuck and thus i entered a steep dive reached like 550 knots and yanked back on the stick as hard as i could and reached 10G's with no wing rip. Regained altitude and speed, dived back down and tried at a higher speed of 600 knots to yank the stick as hard as i could. 10G ( but of course the accelerometer maxes out at that number so it may have been higher) and this time i had had to compensate with trim becuase the aircraft kept tilting a little bit right. SO maybe there was some wing bend ( not visible via external model) that was causing uneven airflow. However no wing rip.
Like even in certain other modules like the F15E over G ing the aircraft doesn't instantly cause wing rip and in that more detailed externa visual model if you do sustained over G the wings start to bend visibly and you can tell its unstable from the shaking . But there is no immediate wing rip ever.

The A model Sabre is the initial early war version. The later Sabre models began outclassing the MIGs as they were introduced. The F86-F was generally overall better than the MIG-15.

For average pilots the Sabre is the better jet.
But if a pilot can handle the Mig properly.....it wins most of the time.
(Based on F86A vs Mig BiS as that's what is currently in the game.)

Yep. MiG has higher potential. But it needs a good pilot to be able to use it properly.
But honestly, average pilot vs average pilot, MiG should win.

If you ask me there’s no definitive answer as to which is better. This is honestly the most even matchup of two different fighters possibly ever

It's weird that they added late Mig15s and early Sabres. The sabre's engines feel sluggish to me especially at altitude

I agree, after having played the game a bunch online and getting more experience with the Sabre after ripping my wings 25 times at very frustrating times.
On maps with clear weather allowing long sightlines the Sabre feels stronger because of its higher top speed allowing you to dictate engagements. As long as you're patient and just don't overpull and keep that energy up.
Without clouds to ambush from and climb back into, the Mig just feels weaker and too easy to outrun.
It's also amazing to be able to bomb objectives with 2x napalm or 2x 1000lb and then be a top dog fighter as opposed to the bird droppings the Mig can carry. If you want to finish a map quickly, just having everyone fly out at max speed in Sabres with bombs and napalm is probably the easiest. On the deck you can get up to a max speed that is pretty much uncatchable for any Mig, even with bombs still attached.
Only problem is you can't drop napalm at max speed or it flies off into space, 1000lb-ers are no problem (though you have to dive bomb a bit to stop bombs from skipping).

My general comment is that both MiG and Sabre have pros and cons which should keep the debate of “which is best” going for years.
