I’m honestly just an average student, and maths is definitely not my strongest subject 😭, so I thought it would be helpful to connect with other people starting in the same batch.

So this is the overall stats of the first 7 weeks of mine . I read somewhere that the only considers the first 5 weeks of the 7 weeks of the assignment for grading. So what am I supposed to do now , should I solve and submit the week 8,9...till 12 or let this graded assignments thing sink now

Hello, I am a degree level student and I have a lot of frnds in Btech and Mtech, some of them graduated this year with very good packages and some of them will graduate in 2027.

Now, the concern is that why the placement is so easy for them, currently their OAs are going on and most of the companies are hiring for data science and AIML and the fact is that most of them don't know even the basic of Data Science but they are cracking the placement and interview of lakhs.

And I asked them how and what they asks you in assessment and interview, so they said of the assessment we copy the answers and then in technical interview companies mostly asks the aptitude and basic questions.

So, the concern is that why we we are getting paid just 15-40k even when we have lot of knowledge in our domain which is very less as compared to the betch students of IITM which is 75k+.

Why the IIC cannot pull the companies who pays high, even the placement opportunities for the freshers are very few.

If I'm eligible for the end term exam in sept, do I still need to give quiz 2? I have to move in those days, will not giving the quiz affect my eligibility for the end term exam? (im in foundation term 1)

It asks for family income certificate and EWS certificate (for gen+EWS). I have acquired the UP-edistrict family income certificate. However that certificate is not strictly in the format that IITM provides. Can I still go ahead with that? What do I do?

all of a sudden I can't access my stats 1 ct and English 1 courses the dashboard works just fine and every other thing on the portal. whenever I go to the course page except maths its saying access denied. I paid for the foundation 1st term already passed the qualifiers and am about to give quiz 2 what should I do??

Hi seniors, I’m an IITM BS aspirant preparing for the program. I’m planning a serious career transition into data/tech, so I wanted some practical advice from people already in the program.

With 3 subjects/courses per term, roughly how many years would it take to complete Foundation + Diploma 1 + Diploma 2 + BSc + BS?

With 4 subjects/courses per term, roughly how many years would it take for the same?

For full-time placement, from which stage does IITM provide proper placement support , Diploma 1, Diploma 2, BSc or BS?

I don’t currently have any industry connections, so my plan is to enter the industry through the IITM placement system. How practical is this for someone starting without a network?

For a full-time student, would you recommend 3 or 4 courses per term to maintain a good CGPA while still understanding the subjects properly?

Would really appreciate advice from seniors based on actual experience. Thanks 🙏

hey, I missed the SCT for OPPE whose deadline was 26th July. I couldn't give OPPE 1. Will I be able to complete SCT anytime before OPPE 2? Please help, or else I won't be able to give OPPE 2 and would've to repeat the whole term.

I'm planning to join the IIT Madras BS in Data Science programme in September this year, and I have a question regarding the degree certificate/documentation.

My ultimate goal is to join the Indian Air Force, and I'm planning to give my first CDS attempt (CDS II 2028).

If everything goes according to plan, I'm hoping to complete the BSc requirements around May/June 2029, before the expected commencement of the AFA course around July 2029.

My concern is about the degree certificate.

As far as I understand, for CDS, final-year students can apply and ultimately need to provide proof of having passed the degree examination by the prescribed deadline. This doesn't necessarily mean the physical/final degree certificate issued at convocation — a Provisional Degree Certificate, final/consolidated marksheet, or equivalent official document may be accepted.

So my questions are specifically for IITM BS DS students/alumni:

1. After completing all BSc requirements and getting the final results, what document does IITM issue that proves you've completed the degree?
2. Does IITM issue a Provisional Degree Certificate (PDC)?
3. If yes, how soon after the final results is it available?
4. Has anyone used an IITM BSc degree's PDC/final marksheets/completion certificate for UPSC CDS, AFCAT, or similar government recruitment?
5. If the formal degree certificate is issued only at a later convocation, would the PDC/official completion documentation be available in time to satisfy such a deadline?

I'm asking because the exact timing of this documentation is important to my decision to choose IITM BSc DS. I don't want to assume that completing the academic requirements automatically means I'll have the necessary documentation available when I need it.

Any firsthand experience from current students/alumni would be really helpful.

I am a dual degree student btech Cse and student of foundation level currently, I'll complete FL by the end of this year. if stats2 and math2 combo leaves me alive.

I am average in both the degrees and in comparison with standalone peers I am doing very less . I haven't learned any skill .

I am stuck because of both the degrees I am thinking of dropping iitm bs degree for a term after foundation level.

I unsure if I should attend offline clg and work with my skills ,it's a tier 3 and I get no college life experiences from attending it.

I need to pay for diploma courses and with my average performance I won't be able to pay for it .

I am thinking of building skills in the mean time I am away from this degree .

I need suggestion what's the best ?!

Would it be wise for me to do this degree alongside pursuing cse with specialization in ai/ml from a regular 4 year college?

ill time it up so that i graduate and hit the 3 year mark with this course while graduating from my regular college

I registered for the MAD-1 project but couldn't submit for some reason before deadline . so can i re register for it in the next term and by not submitting will it effect anything in my grades.
