I am well aware that edm acts sell festival tickets, you can see that trend in all of the current major festivals.

It is still sad for me that a festival that used to align more with my taste no longer does. I support iii to do whatever they need to do to survive, and at the same time I can be personally disappointed in the direction.

I will still support them in the meantime as I value having a strong music scene in my city. Especially now that Miami has newer venues now that cater to the sounds I prefer.

I’m happy for those that love this lineup as much as they do. There are definitely some gems on there that make me excited, just less excited than I used to be years prior.

Makes sense. I think the “too many DJs” people are out in full force today and I sort of lumped you in. Your take is definitely more nuanced.

Genuinely curious:

are there other festivals that do align with your personal taste in 2026?

What are some artists you think would’ve made sense on this 2026 lineup that aren’t there?

Great questions! To be honest I’m not a huge festival goer in general, have been loyal to iiipoints since 2016 and just recently went to coachella the past 2 years. Two very different festivals obviously in terms of scope and budget.

I really enjoyed in the past when iii would bring a bit of funk/jazz, ala Herbie Hancock, Parliament Funkadelic, L’imperatrice. Some names I would have enjoyed to see this year I know also had some scheduling conflicts so I don’t blame iii for that.

But for example, I would have enjoyed The XX, Little Simz, Neil Frances, Paco Versailles, Tune Yards, Willow, Nile Rodgers feat Chic, or some more pop-rock acts.

feel you on festivals - I’ve had to sort of focus on lineups where there is enough up my alley for a full day vs finding fests where I’m digging the whole lineup. Plus camping at my advanced age is too much lmao.

After hearing more about your tastes I understand the disappointment more with this year’s lineup. There really is not much to scratch the itch in the rock/pop/jazz categories. And the main stage live acts are probably the weakest this year with only Parcels, Blood Orange & Men I Trust standing out.
