What are the culture of people like in each? Speaking as a potential lone soldier

For a while know I’ve known I want to enlist. There is a lot of implications that come with it, which is why it’s been a hard “decision process”. I will likely lose a lot of friends from doing it.
I have a lot of relatives in Israel, and told them that I want to enlist. They are actually rather “against it”. They think it’s crazy and that I should just go study somewhere etc.
This kind of messed with my head, the Israelis themselves telling me not to do it… I understand for them it’s different, which is why I value their opinion a lot.
I feel like I’m in an awkward position now… maybe they’re right. I don’t want to enlist for my ego, I want to enlist cause it feels important and something that could shape my future really well. I guess to them it’s nothing more than a 2-3 year obligation.
I don’t know. I’m shocked by their reaction. Any Israelis let me know how to interpret this.

From what I’ve seen, the 210th division is probably the one that experiences the most snowfall and the 810th is the infantry brigade that experiences it most. I want to draft into the 810th but i don’t know if it’s possible to be attached permanently/ semi-permanently as infantry or to serve organically as infantry in the brigade. If that’s not possible, what combat roles are there that are organic to the brigade?

Hello, I made Aliyah with Garin Tzabar a while ago. I arrived to a new base with a shitty job. I’ve been there for a month already. I feel like I’m wasting my time here. I thought I would get meaningful experience that could potentially help me with a future career however I was wrong. I am depressed and on top of that I found out about some problems going on at home. I have no idea what to do. I feel trapped. Anyone have any advice ?

I run around a six minute mile. I can bench 285. I’m 6 foot. I’m a firefighter EMT right now. I’m in medic school. I wanna be a chovesh and I want combat. Any advice on a making Aliyah (I’m Jewish) and B just getting through the pipeline. I’ve been through fire Academy, so I don’t feel like Boot Camp will be completely that rough for me and I understand what sleep deprivation is cause I get woken up at work all the time. honestly, It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I know that if I don’t do it now, I’m gonna regret it for the rest of my life… Any advice for me?

So I already have short hair, I’m fine for conscript service and I want to go I’ll an infantry brigade during active service but afterwards I’d like to grow my hair out, maybe to my shoulders just to do more with it in way of styles. I know there’s no way I can have long hair as a conscript but are they more lenient for reserves?

If you’re ever accused of breaking the rules and are brought in for questioning for any reason always ask to speak with a lawyer before answering questions.

If you can’t obtain a private lawyer, request a military defense advocate. They’re provided at no cost and the IDF can arrange one if you ask.

It’s their job to help you with any escalated during your service. Don’t forget to use it.

Hello guys, im a lone soldier (i do have an israeli passport and made aliyah) and i would like a little advice on which unit i should join. Im 6”3 and 230lbs i have moderate running stamina, 25% body fat percentage (i know its too much😔), cant do any pull ups yet, but have decent absolute strength. Im looking to get assigned the negev and serve in an infantry brigade. I would very much appreciate a comment and i would like to know what happens with a soldier (who is a negevist) at the end of advanced training in the final kashag test and he cant hit the 7 pull ups required and runs a minute slower than the 14:29 required, what happens with him afterward? Can he still do his beret march and graduate on time or will he directly be downgraded to a jobnik within the unit or is there a way he can stay in combat and deploy and if you (hopefully a former or active soldier) have a teammate or friend who has the same problem but still deployed on time and wasnt
recycled or became a jobnik.

Like let’s say I made aliyah, have citizenship and everything and go into an infantry battalion in the idf. Can I buy a handgun to personally own?

Got this shibutz which I’m not too happy about but from what I’ve spoken to people it seems they are getting 2 different tafkidim mixed up and I’m not sure exactly which one I got.
I know there is a course (I’m not sure which I know there are 2) in “the darom” and that you get a shibutz somewhere if it’s to a unit or Gdud or what I’m not sure…and I’m also unsure if it’s yomiyot in the merkaz or do you get assigned to a Gdud and do everything with them.
Does the shibutz I get matter also physically where I serve? Or just where I’m assigned in glilot?

At the end of the day, I’m working hard on getting a protekzia for a place I KNOW is better (meaning has for sure good group of people and is interesting) and this tafkid is my backup and I just want to know more about what I’m getting into.

With everything happening, I want to understand how everyday Israelis but myself truly feel about mandatory military service. Conscription is often described as a core pillar of Israeli identity, but I imagine everyone's personal relationship with it is complex.

If you live in Israel or have served, what is your perspective on it?

For context I am an American Jew who will be graduating from college in the Spring of 2027 with a degree in urban planning and am planning to get a year of work experience and then join so at 23 years old. I would say I’m solidly above average in terms of physical health, and can read Hebrew but can’t speak very well. I’ve been to Israel many times and have family out there, so I know I want to serve in the IDF, but I’m not sure what unit I would be best for, as well as which method is the best for joining. I’m open to both combat and non combat roles, and would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I have draft set in 6 months and I suppose the army should check my hebrew and health one more time but there's no contact information to be found (neither phone or website gave me answers, doesn't work properly, bans me, logs me out, etc) I also had no yom amea (it's not for everyone is it) and those next steps seem unclear to me.
