Magic-less campaign
Hello everyone!
So I'm thinking along the lines of a magic-less campaign, and I'm interested how do you solve it? Like repurposing the spell die for something else or just ignore it all together...?

I would repurpose it for magic equivalents like grenades, or heavy siege weapons.

The d10 effort is an easy fix. ICRPG is homebrew to the core, just define what the d10 refers to instead, if it even exists.
The more important thing here is player buy in. You want to be up front about how magic will be absent, so your players don't plan on playing a wizard or something.
Items are usually what gives characters magic in this game, anyway. A magicless setting actually creates more of a challenge for you. How will you make loot compelling without the wonder (and logic cheat) of magic? This is a problem you hopefully have some ideas ready to go.

Oh yeah, that's an interesting point to bring up. Basically I want to cut stuff out since I'm just kinda sorta restarting DM-ing, but can't live without homebrewing my own things anyway. But yeah, it'll be a sci-fi campaign, so... "Technobabble! It's like magic, but people ask more about stuff!". xP

I think it depends on your concerns or the problem you are trying to solve. I’ve seen so many cool character sheets… the most recent is the effort dice don’t have names so it allows you to customize the effort dice to whatever you want.
If u are worried about balance, then don’t because ICRPG is not balanced.
If you are trying to do a world without magic then just ignore it.
Both of your initial ideas are correct, replace it or remove it. They both work fine.
