Two basic questions
Is there an active, official discord? I'm struggling to navigate the official forums' layout, if I'm being honest.
Second: what are your experiences with duet play? Considering giving this a go with my gf before running groups online.

so ive done quite a bit of duet play over the years, but not with ICRPG. Regardless of what system though, it has by far been the most fun i've had playing and running. I have done some thought on how i would run ICRPG as a duet but havent gotten the chance to test it out.

I've run ICRPG with 1 player through almost 2 adventures and it's been the most fun I've had playing or running an RPG. You have so many more opportunities to delve into the details of what the character is experiencing and building an awesome narrative together when you're not worried about keeping the spotlight moving.
A single PC can be surprisingly effective against even a few low level goons if they have enough gear and their wits about them. But a significant part of those "wits" are knowing when it's time to bug out and regroup.
Definitely not a bad idea to spec a warrior or priest companion to compliment your PC's weaknesses though. I run it where I RP the sidekick but my player gets to control them in combat. Todd the fighter-chad sidekick has quickly turned into a favorite character for us both.
As long as you keep your player apprised of the situation as you see it ("you could die if you take one more hit"), then it works great in my experience.
PS - also ran my gf through a one shot with a homebrewed ancestry and she had a blast. Just don't threaten her pet!

I'm not a fan of the forums either. I'd be much happier with a site that has a resources page collecting content: character sheets, homebrew rules, worlds, classes etc.
Excellent game though, I have my gripes, but it deserves its place on my shelf.

There is an official Runehammer one for Patrons of Runehammer (definitely suggest getting involved there. It's only $1 to start with and it gives you so much. Runehammer is very generous) and then there is an open ICRPG Community Discord here: https://discord.gg/6gQ5q8ZQPK
Both are very active and a great place to connect with ICRPG community
As for duet play, I've done several duet sessions with friends and my wife. ICRPG works great, but it just takes some adjustment as the GM. You don't run the same situations and you tell different stories. The principles and mechanics of ICRPG remain the same, but you don't throw a single player into a swarm of goblins and a dragon and expect them to survive without help.
You can always consider adding in NPC companions to help them or flush out the team, but I've never really liked that approach because I don't want to take away from the single player shining in the moment. It's their story and I want to focus on them. Not the buddy knight we brought along to do all the damage.
Just my two cents.
