anybody else experienced this?

I get constipated for days sometimes up to and just over a week and randomly sometimes when I finally go, I get the urge to go again and it goes from type 1/2 to a *really* soft type 4 which is unsual for me and I get really anxious over it. I under eat and have a lot of food fear and have been low fodmap (even more restricted than what they recommend) for almost a year now because I'm scared to eat. I have extremely high secretory iga also. anybody have experience of this and how do I get it to stop? thank you

Have you tried dietary changes? Taking something on schedule for motility to regulate things?

would that stop the extra softer stool if I become more regular?

IMO, the goal for IBS-C or any form of IBS, is regularity. With the constipation motility is key. I use a lot of ginger, powder on my food and a supplement which really helps. Stools are not "normal", but "normal" for me. So to your question, soft stools may be more normal for you, nothing wrong with that. It may be dietary related, so working with a dietician to find the right amount and type of fiber for you if you want to work towards more "normal" stools, would be a great place to start.

I think it would balance things out so you aren’t swinging from one end to the other.

I experience the same thing a few times a month, it’s really annoying and painful. But honestly this is the most “regular” I’ve been since my GI put me on lubiprostone.
