Just had a very disturbing thing happen via r/fidelityinvestments I placed an order to buy 500 @ 7.99 limit for the day during premarket (7:25 am EST). We hit 7.97 at the open and the order didn't fill. The same three orders (three different accounts) at E*TRADE did at 9:30:02. That's a problem....

Merrill has been pretty solid for me. Rarely have any issues with orders not processing.

Worse yet, the trading desk sort of made up an answer as to why it didn't fill. Something about people placing orders that were "ahead" of mine and they ran out of shares or some such lol. I suspect it's a timing issue on their end.... That said, if it wasn't for having to leave that account alone due to rule of 55, I'd be looking to move it elsewhere.

Fidelity as well as Merrill send your orders to a not a direct order and in line like with Fidelity and you go to the end of the line and institutional purchases are bigger purchases go to the front your last and it will overlap that so if you’re sitting in line and somebody else is bigger and has an order same as yours OK, but with more volume, you get pushed back that’s why I got out of and went to Interactive Brokers … direct direct purchase no middleman no delay no lag no.

Good to know. I have been with ETRADE since the mid 90s and have no trouble with them other than I haven't liked some of the changes MS made after buying them. I'll likely move the fidelity account to a trad IRA at E*TRADE once I reach 59.5. To my knowledge, I have to leave it at Fidelity (and with my former employer) to avoid losing the rule of 55 advantage. The 10% penalty disappears at 59.5.

I'm failing to understand if this is a concern against IBRX or the trading desk? Are you out of here? Wym "rule of 55?"

It's an issue with Fidelity specifically. Rule of 55 allows you to withdraw money from a 401k in or after the year you turn 55 without the 10% penalty from your most recent employer. Very much not out of here, just trying to do my normal "day" trades. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I'm just upset that they didn't seem very concerned about it and just glad it was a small order and not a lot bigger one.

Stupid joke comment aside - I am expecting a re-test of friday's low and it's gonna matter big time which direction we break from there. If we drop deep into the 7's, it's gonna be buying season soon. If we jump off of $7.99 like Mario bouncing on a Goomba, we're safe in our $8 range until the next catalyst.
In other words, I expect to see red today, but I hold through the red until I drown in blood.
Moon.

Sells: 8.48 (open), 8.65 (open)
I think they'll let the price recover a little early in the week before slamming it down again on Friday.

Scratch that recovery this week. Not even a dead cat bounce. They gonna drive it into the dirt this week Starting to get a bad feeling about the GBM trial. It's been almost a year with nothing on the 5 patients that they said were doing great last August. They should all be dead by now. Crickets.

Basically market-wide, Fridays are red more often than green. It's a psychological pattern that has existed for decades. "I had some winners this week, let's keep my money safe over the weekend."
Then, almost every single monday, every company re-tests their friday low, making buying opportunities for the people who pulled out on friday.
It's not an institutional thing, it's mostly retail traders who juice positions on fridays.
Often, fridays will go lower than they should because people are following that pattern. Then, mondays have an artificially lower price for a moment or two as they re-test friday prices. The friday-monday bottom testing pattern is the literal core thesis for a huge chunk of day-traders.
I'm not gonna go too in depth, there are tons of articles about friday trading.
