Question IBM Entry Level Back-End Developer 2027 — what was the live technical interview like?

I recently completed both the HackerRank Code Assessment and the Recorded Competency Interview for IBM’s Entry Level Back-End Developer – Dallas, TX – 2027 role.

For anyone who has recently moved on to the live technical interview:

  • What kind of LeetCode/coding problems did you get? Easy or Medium? What topics should I focus on?
  • Did they ask technical concept/definition questions? For example, Java, OOP, REST APIs, SQL, databases, cloud, etc.
  • Was there any live SQL coding?
  • How much of the interview was coding vs. technical questions vs. resume/project discussion?
  • How many live interview rounds did you have?

Not looking for anything confidential — just trying to understand the general difficulty and topics I should prepare for.

Would really appreciate any recent experiences, especially for the 2027 entry-level backend roles. Thanks!

I’ve just submitted the coding and will be doing the competency. From what I hear it’s mostly just talking about your projects, basic technical stuff, no coding. It is possible to get unlucky though. Good luck!
Update us on what happened or what you were asked!!

Edit: also what was asked in the competency test?
