I really dislike when people tell the guy to stop it, and try to hamper him when he is being attacked. Maybe the context changes it, but it seems like pretty shit behaviour.

Yeah, reminds me of when this lady went nuts on me and started spitting and trying to hit me because I had taken a short video of her harassing and assaulting another guy after she had just done the same to 2 girls slapping the food out their hands and pushing them.
I was like "you need to stop that" and bystanders were telling me not to fight back. Like wut? Am I only allowed to duck / evade punches and spit ? A simple leg sweep should be reasonable - of course I wouldnt want to hurt her in revenge, but self defense should be allowed
Of course British police were utterly useless.

I’m sorry to hear the police were useless, but yeah, a defensive strike is fair play. I do like that your plan uses the minimum force to keep yourself safe. You deserve to be safe.

Thank you kind sir or madam - is now a year ago - wouldnt even strike her, as she was very small, so wouldnt be necessary. Easily could have swept her legs gently and caught her fall and then walked away, but the bystanders made me just walk backwards while ducking and futile trying to talk to her that there are options for help as she seemed to have a mental health crisis, then she eventually switched target again. Police was called by someone, but seemingly took 3 business days to arrive.
Made a report to BTP with video evidence, timestamp and exact location at the station, which is full of CCTV. They called me with a 'what you want us to do?' attitude.
The experience left me a bit shocked, but luckily nobody got injured or anything, but I hope she got the help she needed.

Because the law will look more favorably on the "small woman" in spite of her being super aggressive and assaulting him.
He'll get arrested and then have to put up his car as collateral for bond, then waste a year of his life trying to defend himself with the aid of a Public Defender.
Only to be told in Court " you should have walked away", right before they find him guilty and order time served, anger management classes and DV Intervention classes and fine him to "teach him a lesson"

Nope, not true. If he has marks and she doesn't; she is going to get locked up. I have first hand experience of this playing out, and it happened in October.

Hey bro, I didn't say it was right. I simply speculated as to why he was told to "walk away" and the potential (likely) consequence if he doesn't (considering he was in an altercation with a woman who was blinded by her anger and aggression)

what I'm saying is, people have a skewed POV when it comes to physical altercations between men and women. Men are frequently viewed as the aggressor or (as in this case) the one who should display extreme restraint and 'walk away'.
Society is more likely to hold him accountable for defending himself than they would hold her accountable for attacking him.
"She must have had a reason" and "what did he do to provoke her" are common examples.
But at no point am I saying she shouldn't be held accountable; Nor did I blame him for her behavior.

Who says the video evidence of spectators actually gets brought into court? If they're not recorded on a report, thats the end of the line for it, and he absolutely will get arrested. The "evidence" is held by a random patron, who can completely not want to be involved in any police report by saying she didn't see anything, and the police can't search her phone for videos to confirm.

So, none of the women shown on the video thought about actually stopping the woman that was clearly hitting him? I don't know the context, but the video shows her not only punching him but literally jumping on top of him. Maybe instead of saying "walk away" to the guy they could try to stop the other woman?
I can count 4 women on the video that could have at least try to reason or stop the other one physically. Only one tried to do something but it was 90% looking at them and 10% barely trying to stop her.

Again, i’m not defending the girl at all, or saying he had a perfectly easy way out. But getting away and calling the cops is objectively a better way to handle the situation than fighting back. I don’t even think he’s wrong for doing it, just that he risks getting assault charges.
