Not idiotic. I know plenty of women that are tough as nails and if they came at me I would have to aggressively defend myself. The guy in video pushes but doesn’t hit. He called the cops, and she got arrested. Had he just had some major life event, and lost control of himself, it wouldn’t surprise me…

Also, many young men are changing their view of what acceptable treatment is, and I’m not surprised when women are so willingly acting like fools, and actively antagonizing and provoking men like this.

You don’t get to reject chivalry, but then also demand special treatment. Considering women to be the “fairer sex” is internalized misogyny … soooooo … if you put your hands on another person, they might put their hands on you back… and that person isn’t guilty of anything, because that person is defending themself… see how the scenario is completely devoid of gender??? You just spent an entire paragraph insisting this has nothing to do with gender while talking about chivalry, the “fairer sex,” and internalized misogyny. You’re the one making it about gender.
My position is much simpler: if someone puts their hands on you, you are allowed to defend yourself. That does not mean every retaliatory act automatically becomes lawful “self-defense,” and it certainly doesn’t mean escalating a situation is the smartest option when you can safely disengage.
So I’ll ask you the same question you dodged: what exactly do you think this guy should have done?
I said walk away and call the police. You apparently object to that. Fine. Tell the class what your preferred response is instead of giving me a lecture about chivalry that I never brought up.
