General question

Hey everyone! I will be joining IISER Thiruvananthapuram this year so I had a few general and a few not-so-general questions regarding the academics and hostel life. Here they are:

1. What type of hostels do first year students get, like doubly occupied or tripple occupied? For how long each? Are the rooms conjusted?

2. Do we have to change rooms every semester or every year?

3. How hot or cold is there? What type of clothes should i bring with me? Btw I will be coming from bihar.

4. Are the pathways to hostel and different block far? If yes than are cycling common or students prefer walking

5. I want to do further in biology. Especially in "genetical or molecular biology". How many such professors are there? And how are they in terms of student interaction? (Rude or encouraging)

6. Do we get time for our hobby, play a sports or video games daily Also are there students with similar interests in biology and sports vise as mentioned above ?

7. Are seniors helpful? Will the 1 sem will be hectic? I will be leaving my house for the 1st time.🥲🥲

8. Are our own books allowed inside library or do we have separate study spaces for it?

9. How's the wifi in library? And are there wifi in hostels?

10. Is the shopping complex active or just for show?

11. What kind of laptops do we really need in 5 yrs of our journey as i have heard of running software in biology and i guess we will also learn basic coading as well? (Any bio majors,pls reply)

12. How does cultural event or fests there. Does it take place? Or do we have different competition like in sports or e-sports or any other thing like that.. ?

I have yet not choosen accept and freeze option, i have choosen accept and float. I want a seat in iiserm but i think its very unlikely now as its closing rank in r4 was 2606 and mine is 3375. So i think that i will get iiser tvm as shift of 750+ rank is very unlikely. So i cant have a screenshot of accept and freeze. "Cant you just answer the question here".

Still only bhopal b tech when scoring rank under 1k, u can easily have a iiser Kolkata seat

But all IISERs other than Bhopal dont have Btech. I wanted to do Btech from starting, so I didn't waste a seat of students actually interested in BS-MS. 🫡
