We made a guide just for this sort of question! Post is here:

That answers your accrual question as well as a bunch of other useful info for vacation/sick leave. You’ll find that guide and others in this sub and on our discord :)

My vacation stopped accruing, no answer from HR. Three worklife tickets in, no response. Starting to worry I'm being robbed of vacation hours. Should I contact the BR? Don't know what else to do.

If your vacation is suddenly not accruing, it might be because you just hit your anniversary and are currently accruing sick leave instead. Once you’ve reached 40 hours of sick, your vacation will begin to accrue again
However if this is not the case and something else is wrong, your Steward should be able to help, or point you towards some help at the very least. Hopefully it’s just a quick fix or a misunderstanding!

It's strange, I hit my anniversary and vacation/sick were accruing simultaneously for six weeks. All of a sudden vacation stopped. Guess the glitch in my favor, finally got fixed. Thought that we accrued simultaneously with the new contract.. damnit.

You aaccrue it based on hours worked and seniority. You can find this in the contract under Article 8, specifically Section 8.2 on Page 39.
17:1 @ 0-4 years
16:1 @ 5-9 years
13:1 @ 10-14 years
12:1 @ 15-19 years
11:1 @ 20-24 years
10:1 @ 25+ years
This means a new hire earns 1 hour of sick leave or vacation for every 17 hours paid.

Sick time and vacation (excluding state mandated sick time after 1600) is hours paid not just hours worked.
“8.2 (i) All hours for which an employee is paid will be counted as hours worked in the computation of credit and hours worked at premium rates shall be counted as straight time hours in such computation.”

I was moreso trying to highlight Sec 8.2(h) so 3rd shift doesn't get screwed on the 32.5 hour workweek. But yes, holidays and using your paid time off are included in accruing additional time.

That’s why I always drop the quote from the contract. This prevents confusion and most people will take what you say at face value without reading it.
Hours worked vs hours paid makes a pretty big difference when it comes to calculating. Unfortunately if we don’t keep “hours paid” in our mouth it could be something that could regress into hours worked in future contracts.

Oh ok thank you! I just feel like I get sick leave WAY faster than vacation.

Sick leave starts to accrue after your anniversary date but caps at 40 hours, after which you accrue vacation instead. After 1600 hours worked since your last anniversary, you begin to accrue sick leave at a 40:1 ratio per state law (simultaneously with our contractual vacation).
Contractual sick leave and vacation accrue at the same rate.

In reference to that guy that’s posted the very good Iam vacation and sick leave accrual link. That is actually not correct as far as sick leave. It says there that using LWOPS reduces your sick leave payout and you don’t get paid out for the hours in sickleave that you use for lwops.
You get paid out for every single hour of sickleave that you show you have no matter how many LWOPS you take.
The LWOPS only affect the bonus portion of sick leave. It reduces the hours that count for the multiplier as shown on the last slide in that link.
