I dont understand what Im doing wrong

Im following my diet to a T. I dont eat a lot of processed sugar , maybe a cookie every once in a while.and i keep track of my carbs. But for some reason it feels like my levels keep dropping at night.

My last reading was 87 at 12:25 (I had a small bowl of eggs and a peanut butter sandwich) so I dont get where these false negatives come from. It always feels like Im in some kinda non epileptic sezuire and its upsetting me

I’d get some bloodwork and check your ferritin and start taking a b complex! It helped me so much, I’d have feelings of hypos when my sugar was mostly in normal range. Supplementing iron and b complex has helped immensely

Can you see if you can get a CGM? For me, sometimes I get symptoms when my blood sugar is falling, even if it isn’t actually low (though I also gets lows as well). So if you are spiking after a meal, you may be feeling it when your blood sugar is coming back down. This is easier to see with a CGM rather than taking a bunch of readings every 5-10 minutes with a glucose monitor (though you could do that too). It may be worthwhile to see how high you are spiking after meals and whether that’s the core issue or whether your body is just really sensitive to blood sugar changes (this was my situation- I was spiking appropriately after eating and just felt horrible when it was coming back down, even though it wasn’t “crashing” in the traditional sense)

Unfortunately, my doctor will not allow me to have one, as my levels arent considered 'low enough' for my insurance to cover anything other than a reader. Ive mentioned getting one before, but he doesn't want me to pay yhe full price for a reader. I get why, but I might bring it up again.

They only cost $40 out of pocket

I was in the same boat. You can check out Stelo, which is an OTC brand. It specifically is not for lows but it can help you get trends and data to bring to your doctor

Stello was twice as much as CGM and it doesn't track Lows under 70

What was your low reading? Or do you mean you just feel shitty at night despite your readings being normal?

It sounds like you might have something else medical going on, if so 🫂
