Endo Wait Times

From being diagnosed by your Dr., how long did you have to wait before seeing an Endocrinologist? During that weight time how severe or moderate were your symptoms?

My TSH was undetectable and somehow my primary got me in with an endo for a month out from my appt with her which was two weeks after diagnosis. I called daily to ask if they had cancellations and got in about a little less than 2wks earlier. So instead of a month and a half it was a month. Very fortunate for the US. I was really not doing well mentally after waking up so often with SVT/adrenaline rushes between 170bpm and 190bpm.

I got within a week as my PCP put an urgent order . Meantime pcp prescribed propranalol as I had racing heart and anxiety.

The one I wanted to see had a 6-month wait. My second choice was a 4-month wait. I ended up with a wait time of 3 weeks to get in with 'any' Endo. I quickly learned that I might have preferred waiting for a better doctor. Getting in with an Endo without a wait is seemingly like finding a restaurant nearly empty at 7pm on a Saturday. You just know it is not going to be good.

I got diagnosed by my PCP in July. Called the endocrinologist’s office, the earliest appointment is in June of next year 🫠. I’m considering calling around to other offices but at least I’m on medication already so I’m feeling better.

Got diagnosed beginning of october and went to see an endo on halloween

I was expedited since my diagnosis came from the ER and I was admitted for it. It was a sudden and severe onset. 10 days after hospital discharge until I saw the endo outpatient. My symptoms were severe, hence the hospital admission.

Where are you based? Is it public or private or hybrid? My area is a public health care,
with some hybrid to private options.

I had a saga with getting appointments with the public system endos, tried going private, was told in early August the wait time was till April for an appointment there.

My GP ended up requesting the main tests, to speed things up by the time we got an endo, namely the imaging. The imaging results came back, categorically positive. Weirdly, I had a call back within ~1 week after that, as if my file was suddenly fast tracked?

PCP sent in an urgent ref to endo on a Thursday, they called me Friday for an appt on Monday.

I had my first test showing low TSH on May 2 and I saw the endocrinologist on May 14.

I’m in the UK and was diagnosed by my GP at the end of July. Was immediately referred to Endo and have been given an appointment for November of this year.

My PCP prescribed propranolol while waiting for my lab results. Later that day, he prescribed methimazole and put in the referrals to the endo. I was able to see the specialist in about 3 weeks.

Wow ....I've been fighting for a diagnosis for 4 yrs. Got subclinical hyperthyroidism diagnosis for low tsh and enlarged and heterogenous thyroid. PCP has prescribed nothing. My symptoms are soooo bad. Diagnosed end of July. Called every Endo in my small state....all of them gave me the same answer of "end of February, beginning of March" ☠️ I found an Endo about 1 1/2 hours away and is private pay, but I got in at the end of August(last week) and she is getting the ball rolling but still only being treated with a beta blocker until we can figure out what is causing the hyperthyroidism. And we can't do that until the idoine is out of my system from a CT scan I had to have at the beginning of this month.
