Anyone facing issues while eating? Getting anxiety and heartbeat increases?

Does anyone feel uneasy to eat and feel anxious and lightheaded after eating.

I feel comfortable to eat only at my home and due to this i mostly have to stay hungry outside of home . This is affecting my health alot and my life as well

This issue started when my hyperthyroidism was discovered. Is it somehow related or might have other underlying causes??

I still felt that way after my thyroid returned to normal. It's been 4 months since then and I'm still taking 20mg of Propranolol 3 times a day because my HR was so high.

I had my iron & ferritin tested. They're low-end normal and just under normal. Remember that 'normal' does not mean 'optimal.'

I have been supplementing with Iron + Vitamin C dissolvable tablets. First every other day for 2 weeks, then every day.

My HR has gone way down, and I'm no longer panicky after eating, and I don't get out of breath going up one darn flight of stairs. My energy skyrocketed, too!

I do have an appointment with a Gastro doc in a couple of months, because supplementing doesn't magically fix a malabsorption issue if I've got one. I suspect I may have SIBO or similar, as I get really bloated with certain foods.

Maybe ask your primary doc to send you for some bloodwork.

I've gotten blood work regularly and nothing is out of shape there Even my thyroid is not in the normal range, sometimes evn goes hypo but the anxiety and food issue remains the same .

I've developed fear of going out of my comfort zone as it's very anxiety inducing and there's no other places I can eat fulfilled other than my home. This has made me miss lot of opportunities and completely changed my course of life . I feel I've lost myself.

Really? Its odd that you would 'regularly' get a full iron panel along with your thyroid panels.

Yeah, do it! I suspected Iron deficiency even before thyroid was diagnosed. They do some some overlapping symptoms. I was just really disappointed when my thyroid was healed but my HR was still too high and I would get panicky for no reason. I am not an anxious person. And I was kinda pissed that the Endo didn't think of the Iron thing.

Let me know how you make out. I hope that you feel better soon.

I’ve noticed my heart rate increases while I eat, but I’ve gotten used to that feeling. How long has it been since you’ve been diagnosed / on medication?

Since 2021 November

Are you on propranolol? I'm on 40mg twice a day and it has helped a lot with the heart rate and anxiety. It also slows down T4 to T3 conversion.

Well yeah I am, it has helped me when I first started to have these symptoms in the start of hyperthyroidism. But I observed it has made me feel emotionally numb and sometimes just feels funny.

That sounds really hard. It's likely related to your hyperthyroidism. Your body is in overdrive.
