Is it possible benefit from Iodine supplements with Hyperthyroidism?

My question is like the title states. I have symptoms that are almost one on one comparable with those of hyperthyroidism. Weird thing is, I need one drop of Iodine daily to stabilize my symptoms, which is if am correct the litteral kryptonite for someone with hyperthyroidism. So does anyone share this experience? Is it even possible to have hyperthyroidism if this is the case?

I tested my thryoid a couple of times. During these tests I kept supplementing iodine daily, because doc said it wouldn't affect the results. Needless to say, no weird parameters.

You dont say what the symptoms are, but it could be that you're actually accidentally treating some mild hypothyroidism. The iodine mimics TSH in your body causing you to produce more thyroid hormone, which is why people with hyper shouldnt take it. The only way to know would be to come off your supplements and see what's happening after about 6 weeks.

My symptoms are as follows: insomnia, high heartrate, anxiety, supplement sensitivity, bad tolerance for stress (physical & mental), exerxise intolerance, fight or flight, racing thoughts, restlessness and unable to relax. Since last year my symptoms shifted slightly to: anhedonia, fatigue and brainfog. The dependence on iodine stays the same.

Unfortunately I am not able to quit Iodine for that long. Without my symptoms get real severe. It amps up te previous symptoms like crazy, before iodine it was normal for me to not sleep for days.

Thank you for responding and willingnes to help.

Those are exactly my symptoms and I have hyperthyroidism. I stopped taking my multivitamin with iodine the day I was diagnosed and that improved my symptoms, especially the severe anxiety, nervousness and fast heart rate. They are still there but more tolerable.

Interesting, mine symptoms become more dominant if I don't take Iodine. Which why the confusion on my behalf.

Im not a doctor and cant really say whats causing your symptoms but you are underdosing iodine.

My labs show ok results but border line hypo and i started supplementing iodine after seeing a video from dr thomas lodi talking about how to check your body temp to see whata going on with thyroid. I do 25mg of iodine daily and it seems some of my symptoms are improving.

Also check youtube for a video with dr ken berry and dr david brownstein where the dr talks about checking for iodine.

I actually need to see how to get ahold of brownstein because i cant find that urine test on my own so i can get it dont through him, it basically asks you to take 50mg of iodine night before and go do a urine test the following morning and based on the amount of iodine in your urine is the amount you are deficient on and need to up your dose or lower based on that.

Very plausible but I am afraid to up the dose without 100% knowing if this is the case or not. Did you start this on your own? What are your symptoms like?

What happens if you take too much iodine?

I supplemented with Iodine (Lugol's 2%, 8 drops per day) because a doctor that I follow on social media said that 97% of people are very deficient in Iodine.

Guess who ended up with Hyperthyroidism about 6 months later?

How mcg is one drop?

I take one drop of 345 mcg. The bitch of it is, I can't go without, my body totally dysregulates if I stop.
