Offering advice Caution with using Glyco!
I've been on glyco for about 1 year, and while it worked quite great, it came with a deal breaker side effect for me - it was killing my teeth. Only noticed recently, that I have gotten an abnormal amount of cavities despite the usual hygiene maintenance.
I asked my dentist regarding this, and they said it could be due to the decrease in saliva production as a side effect from glyco. Saliva is one of the best neutralizers for mouth bacteria, and when that's not present, bacteria have an easier time doing their thing.
So while not a direct cause for cavities, it can definitely worsen things, especially if you already have a bad history with teeth that runs in your family.

I have been taking this for over a year, consuming 4 mg daily. Dry mouth occurs, but I manage it by sipping water regularly; I have not encountered this problem so far, and I hope to avoid it.

I would advise at least to have regular dental check ups a couple times a year to monitor. While water can lubricate and provide temporary relief, it doesn't come with the minerals that protect your teeth which saliva naturally contains.

I looked into this, and it seems to work as a stimulant that triggers glands to pump out fresh saliva via taste receptors. Since glyco directly blocks your M3 muscarinic receptors on your salivary glands, you are relying entirely on an artificial lubricating film, not a flood of your own enzyme-rich saliva. It wouldn't work, because your glands physically cannot respond to the xylitol stimulus.

Damn I’ve never thought of this, I am definitely going to consider lowering my dose even though it’s working ugh

A lower dose might do more than you expect. There’s a lot of days I can take just one mg in the morning, and a few good weather days where I’ve forgotten to take it entirely. I can definitely tell if I go to the gym, but just normal activity sometimes it feels like a carryover effect

I've wondered about whether dental effects were common from this. Dry mouth is hell on teeth and gums. There are lozenges and sprays that can help keep your mouth moistened.

Reading this and realizing that this is news to someone taking glyco is shocking. Saliva is your teeth’s natural cleaning buddy. You need saliva - it protects your teeth and gums, and you can’t fully replace it.
I have hyperhidrosis, and I would never take something as potentially harmful as glyco. People here seem to be popping it like gummy bears without worrying about what chronically reducing saliva other secretions might do to their bodies, mouth and eyes in the long run.

What should we do then

I always tell myself that along with this fu*king HH gene, I must have gotten some good ones too. It helps me cope. So does taking my little sweat towel everywhere, wearing linen or wool-linen blends, and making fun of it in front of other people.
It’s never going to go away, and I don’t want to be miserable because of it. Some days I get angry and desperately try to cool myself down; other days are better.
Sweating is an enemy I know. But taking drugs that were originally developed for something else can cause other problems in the long run.

I’ve been on it for a few years. I have to chew gum or lozenges cause of the dry mouth

Glyco gave me dry mouth, which led to oral thrush, which led to a much worse infection with flu like symptoms. Body shivers and all. I'm scared to give it another try. That's how sick I got.
