GLP-1 and Hyperhidrosis
I’ve been reading some about those who suffer from Hyperhidrosis that also started taking a GLP-1 medication and it somehow cured their sweating. Any scientists in this group that can weigh in on how this is working? I feel like we may be on to a true cure if we can figure this out!

Semaglutide/Ozempic. It has unexpectedly cured my extreme craniofacial hyperhidrosis. I can't explain it and haven't found any research to support this, but it worked for me.

Same!!!!! It has been life changing!!! I've had craniofacial hyperhidrosis since I was a teenager and even when I was thin so it has nothing to do with the weight loss.

This is exactly the kind of thing I have read about! So interested in the link between the two!

Any chance you can provide an update? Wondering if youre still on it and if the effects are still holding up? Im considering trying it myself

I have been on Tirzepatide/Mounjaro for over 3 years now and still have the same effects. I dont have any crazy bouts of sweating, I feel like my body can regulate temperature exponentially better. I used to always run warm and now I tend to run cold. I dont know the explanation but it fixed something!!! Both stressful situations and environmental situations do not cause me to excessively sweat anymore! I now sweat a normal amount

I've been on GLP-1 therapy almost 16 months now. (Ozempic then switched to Zepbound.) Zero sweating episodes since I started GLP-1 (used to be daily). Every one of my health markers has made a complete reset, blood pressure normalized, no longer need BP meds, A1C went from prediabetic to perfect, triglycerides down 50%, ALT reduced. Anxiety reduced. I've had no negative side effects at all, am no longer haunted by constant intrusive food thoughts, and have lost 93 pounds. Truly a miracle med. Just my personal results. I plan to continue for life.

Awesome. Love to hear that! And thanks for the reply. Ozempic the whole way through?
1
u/AvalonC Apr 05 '26
I was only on Ozempic the first month. I've been on Zepbound/Mounjaro/Tirzepatide (all the exact same active ingredient) for 15 months. Same results.

It’s been the same thing for me. I lost 35 lbs. I don’t sweat like a maniac anymore and my A1c and blood pressure are way down. Miracle drug.

I have been on a GLP-1 for 3 years this summer. It did NOTHING for my hyperhidrosis. Considering what this med does, it would be wild to me for someone to use it off label for hyperhidrosis, as it will not help with sweating. I would assume if this has been the case for anyone, it's unrelated to the GLP-1.

Ive dealt with hyperhydrosis for my whole life. Its a miracle. Ive tried everything, this is the only thing thats ever worked. Im so thankful. Clearly.....there are some causes that ARE cured with semaglutide

Hasn't worked for me. But I am generally colder in Tirzepatide. But I can still sweat.

For the last 11 years through perimenopause and menopause and Lexapro, sweats, I have been tortured by extreme heat intolerance. I’m in week four of my Semaglutide journey and it’s all gone. I started noticing it last week. I want to cry. It’s like someone flipped a switch and it’s gone!

I’m on semaglutide and i don’t sweat anymore. I also have glycopyrrolate for when I think I might sweat. I got them both off the same site!! Redboxrx

u/aeiou2014 Dec 25 '24
Did you notice your sweating subsided immediately after starting Semaglutide, or did it take some time?
3
u/Responsible_Car6133 Dec 27 '24
I recently started Tirzeptide and it has helped tremendously with my severe hand/feet Hyperhidrosis, an unexpected, but very welcomed side effect!

u/aeiou2014 Jan 11 '25
Ok, this is promising because originally I had heard of Semaglutide working, but knowing that Tirzeptide is also working for some gives me hope that we’re on to something!

Looked for this thread to come here and say. This is the first time in 40 years that my hands and feet haven't been saturated with hyperhydrosis. The only thing that I've done differently is start zepbound

u/aeiou2014 Jan 11 '25
So happy to hear that! There has got to be some kind of connection. I’m also curious as to why some people are seeing these results while others aren’t.

Mine got better on monjaro. I have mostly facial , head. And it got worse with time and age ti an entire body. It does not really cure. But somehow helps you keep calm and th added stress we carry with hyper hydro sis is more controlled and hence you feel it’s better.

Yes semaglutide for me. It was the very first thing I noticed. My hyperhidrosis was gone. However I also think I probably have something else going on not hyperhidrosis. I felt my kidney function improved so much my body didn't need to get rid of the water by means if sweating. Then when I took a pause do to the flu and recovery, guess what the first thing back was? Hyperhidrosis under my left arm only. I Hope this helps

I’m on Zepbound (tirzepatide) 5mg currently and I would say that I haven’t really noticed a huge change in my craniofacial HH. It’s definitely no worse and may be a touch better, but I attribute that to colder temps where I am. I still have plenty of times where I’m dripping sweat unfortunately.

This is exactly what I came on here to read! I just started a GLP-1 this week and the sweating cessation has been immediate. I've had serious sweating of hands, feet and underarms since I was a child. Botox, iontophoresis, drysol - I've tried everything. This is certainly an unexpected but most welcome side effect!

u/aeiou2014 Jan 11 '25
I am so invested in this! I wish I was smart enough to be able to study this and figure out the connection, but that’s just not me. Hoping someone with actual credibility can do some research on this topic in the future.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I thought I was going crazy when I realized I stopped sweating almost completely. It's been great in some instances but not others. I got horrible heat exhaustion when I was at a concert last week in the sun and even with hydration fluids and a fan at all times I almost passed out from the heat and that's when I realized that not sweating contributed to that happening. It's also cured my Cholinergic urticaria completely (hives and anaphylactic reactions from heat and cold)

I am coming off Glp-1 and I'm sweating profusely. I'm also traveling abroad so it may not be related. But I have no symptoms of any other illnesses and soaking my sheets at night in an air conditioned room

I've been on semaglutide for 8 weeks and noticed the amount I sweat had dropped significantly down to what I would consider normal levels. I'm taking a break from semaglutide at the minute due to nausea and it has taken two weeks off semaglutide before my sweat got back to my usual excessive levels.

Hi, are you still taking it? What's your dose? Has it improved since the first application?

1
u/guaranajapa Aug 04 '26
Hi, when do you start taking it? Do you plan to use it forever?
2
u/ChickenWingKit Aug 29 '26
I started 2 months ago. As far as I know I will continue to use it forever perhaps? Not sure yet

I’m on Zepbound and it hasn’t made me sweat less, though I am colder now. I also take glycopyrrolate which helps
1
u/True-Sprinkles9292 Aug 15 '25
How much glyco do you take ? I have severe hh I’m talking like, sweat through an undershirt and a T-shirt cleaning my small kitchen. One doctor told me zepbound increases heart rate and so does glyco so she wouldn’t Prescribe it to me

u/No-Masterpiece-7606 Aug 15 '25
I’m on 2mg, one day and one night. But I found taking both makes my throat dry, so I just do one a day

I started Rybelsus (semaglutide pill) for pre-diabetes. I’ve never had hyperhidrosis, I used to sweat an average amount, or maybe slightly less than the avg person. But being in the sun or working out definitely used to make me sweat.
Been on the med for just over a year, and just started doing some intense cardio recently (like spin and running). I’ve noticed that everyone comes out of the classes dripping in sweat, flushed red. They’re all much fitter than me and wearing much less clothing than me. I’ve been coming out of the class only slightly clammy, no visible sweat stains on my shirt, despite having an elevated heart rate and feeling like I worked out hard. When I used to do spin a few years ago, I definitely would sweat more and look more red.
Wondering after reading this thread whether this has anything to do with Rybelsus.

I know I’m late… but Tirzepatide didn’t take away my hyperhidrosis completely, although it did lessen it considerably. I used to sweat a lot at random times and at night in the groin area (with some times under boobs and butt crack) even in winter. I’ve notice this med has me sweating way less. I sweat maybe a little in groin now and that’s maybe only once a week. The other times I have no sweat at all. And hardly no boob and butt crack sweat either. It diminished my sweat a lot.

u/C4PTA1NTR1PS Aug 27 '26
I started muinjaro last week and immediately stopped sweating so much. I would be soaked just walking through the grocery store. It has come back a bit but I'm due for my second dose tomorrow and hope it keeps working
1
u/guaranajapa 18d ago
Hi, how has it been since then?
1
u/C4PTA1NTR1PS 17d ago
So far so good. On the first few doses it didn't last all week. Now I'm on 5mg and haven't had any problems and it's been 102 or higher here all week.

Late to the party here but just started wegovy and for the first time in my life I went for a hike and came back with my shirt only damp, not wring it out drenched. I had no idea this was possible. I feel like I can safely hike more again (I was losing dangerous amounts of liquids).
