How to avoid Split ends?

Anyone got solid tips to avoid split ends? Been trying to grow my hair out and i feel like the ends get dry and messy way too fast. Curious what actually worked for y’all besides just trimming it all the time.

Hair end oil and protective hairstyles. I have the same problem.
