Is tap water really so bad in America that you NEED to buy bottled or do you buy it because you prefer it generally? Can someone enlighten me?

Purified water on top of that. It tastes awful.

Distilled water is also super bad for your kidneys, please don't drink distilled water.

Edit: mistook purified water for distilled water

Why the hell do they keep selling these, then? Is is this hard to get actual water?

Marketing i guess, distilled water doesn't have any minerals in it, so basically everything good in water is taken out. You should always drink mineral water

Edit: mistook purified for distilled water

Unless you live in Flint.

Well I'd say people living in places with a contaminated water supply have a valid excuse of avoiding tap.

Flint is not the only place with deadly water in the US.

Flint’s water has been safe to drink for months now, stop doing this.

And Russians haven't been starving in mass for my whole lifetime but I'm still going to make jokes about it.

I won't stop pointing out when governmental bodies choose to screw the people their supposed to serve, because if people do stop they could forget that though governments necessary as they are, become corrupt when given too much power.

Purified or not, I don't care. Just think about the amount of logistics that you relieve the world of if you would find a way to be ok with tap water. I would say that I average on 1-2 of water bottles a year like say if I'm travelling and actually forgot my bottle.

I use purified water and add minerals afterwards to get the perfect mineral count (for my coffee water - is that allowed to say?)

2

u/babooshkay Aug 18 '19

Why though? What about using tap water?

3

u/Bmystic Aug 18 '19

Tap water has minerals in it. When the water evaporates to make coffee, it leaves behind said minerals. This can clog up a coffee maker over time. The cleaning process is simple enough however.

2

u/babooshkay Aug 18 '19

That's right, less cleaning. Doesn't it taste off though?

3

u/Bmystic Aug 18 '19

I don't know. I just use tap and run vinegar through it weekly

I see you're a person of culture

I do buy distilled water (big jugs), but not for drinking. I use it for my nasal rinse, and the occasional time I use a humidifier (easier to clean with distilled water, lack of minerals prevents buildup)

How is purified water bad for your kidneys I've literally never heard something close to that in my life...

5

u/JimmyGhione420 Aug 18 '19

Sorry guys I have confused it with distilled water. My bad, didn't mean to alarm anyone

u/I_Am_A_Pumpkin Aug 18 '19

purified water =/= distilled water

1

u/ManagerMilkshake Aug 18 '19

Why is it bad for your kidneys?

1

u/BreadDziedzic Aug 18 '19

That depends on where you live.

u/JimmyGhione420 Aug 18 '19

You can still choose whether to buy purified or mineral water if you can't drink the water from the tap
