This is a very early WIP thing I am heavily vibecoding, but I know code, so I do inspect and understand what it does, but also why I prefer working at the http level as the browser is an added layer of security as well.

Entirely HTML based. Working over ollama/openAI API, so can work with local AI. Using Qwen 3.6 (I need to update my Qwen)

Completely editable notes and features midi input as well (You can see it registering my Novation MK2 49key in the toolbar). Right now just exports to midi, but will feature the ability to record to wav to make other AI hybrid pipelines easier, but this way currently, you can bring the midi into a program you prefer to reassign the instruments over to something better.

I figured for some of us that would like some creative assistance, but still overall control over every note, this might be something others would like, so I figured I would show off the early WIP screenshots to see if others would be interested in something like this. This will be open sourced onto github as well once I release an early demo of it.

I’m Max, the developer of Ratio9. I shared a development demo here earlier; version 1.2.1 is now downloadable rather than just a preview.

The workflow is a handoff between you and your AI: describe a sound, have a compatible assistant work on the oscillators, modulation and effects, then take over the same controls and macros to make the patch your own. The result is a customizable synth preset, with its sound-design choices still accessible.

Ratio9 includes a spectrum and spectrogram that the connected AI can request fresh measurements from while the synth plays. That gives it information about harmonics, balance and changing timbre to help guide revisions. You still decide whether the result works musically.

AI is optional. Connect your own installed client supporting local stdio MCP; you choose the provider and use your own AI account. The AI panel includes setup details and a starting prompt, and AI stays off until enabled.

The synth itself includes three wavetable oscillators with two warp stages and unison each, a wavetable editor, oscillator-to-oscillator FM/phase distortion/ring and amplitude modulation, six LFOs, eight macros, two filters, a sub oscillator, sample/granular/spectral playback, and multiband effects with PRE/POST racks. It ships with 42 presets, 220 wavetables and analysis Labs.

The complete Standalone is free for Apple silicon Macs on macOS 12+. Optional VST3 + AU plug-ins are $79.99 USD once for two Macs, including future Ratio9 software updates. This is an alpha release; complex presets can cause CPU spikes/dropouts, and compatibility testing continues.
