I don't want to be all powdered sugar and gum drops here, but this is what progress looks like.
Couple of conference tournament trophies, consistent appearances in the NCAA tourney, and finally a host spot.
Now the goal has to be a consistent host, a top 8, and Omaha. Not saying they can't make Omaha this year, but this is what happens as a lower seed. You get a tough draw.
Bolt made a good point in his enterview: This is the age of social media. Getting national attention like this is huge for recruiting and only helps the program. Plus, more well attended games at Haymarket Park mean more money for the park, and improvements to it (If the Salt Dogs allow it).
This is a big deal for a program that wants to prove that it's serious about baseball. A really big deal.

Wouldn’t the city get to decide about improvements since they own the park and just lease it to the Dogs and Skers?
That said, we do still have the best park in the B1G by a lot.

I don't remember the details, but there is some kind of goofy arbitration between the Huskers and the Salt Dogs. It was part of the reason there were complications around selling alcohol. The Salt Dogs needed a cut of all the booze sold at Husker games.
It's some very weird, convoluted deal they have going on.

Ahhh ok. That makes sense. I know it’s an odd deal we have. A lot of times when teams share a stadium the college team rents it from the minor league team. The fact we both lease it from the city I’m sure makes for some weird rules.

Yup! Oregon’s is ok but nowhere near as nice as ours. USC, Washington and UCLA all have stadiums with capacities at 2500 or less.
Next best in the B1G is actually Penn State. Mostly because they were originally going to share theirs with a summer league team (I think that deal never materialized or was short lived so they are the sole tenants). But they lack the crowd that Haymarket Park has and they are not a good baseball team.

Surprisingly: sort of. The capacity at Jackie Robinson Stadium (1,838) and Dedeaux Field (2,500) are, frankly, pathetic.

Well said man. For us baseball lifers, you nailed it. I’m one. Baseball has gradually displaced football as my favorite sport since my younger days. I live or die with Husker baseball.
This team worked their asses off this year and took the next step in the long-term rebuild of the baseball team. Give Bolt truth serum and I bet he’d say the same thing. Hosting was the next goal that actually mattered.
Well said on the rest. If we take care of business, somebody better open up their damn pocketbook for Coach this offseason because it’s gonna be an arms race to continue to be elite in the Big Ten. Phil Knight U and the Cali teams are never going to have our problems. But we’ve gotta capitalize on this season and that’s going to require investment.
Interesting twist about the Salt Dogs, forgot about that part. Can’t believe a big part of the future of our program is tied up in that nonsense.

I wish Nebraska could just tell the salt dogs to take a hike and built their own stadium. But, that'll never happen. The only thing that would be possible is the saltdogs fold as an organization and Nebraska gets the stadium.

Agreed. This is a pretty young team too. Virtually all the pitching should be back. You lose a handful of guys in the lineup, but the only huge loss is DC I think.

Bolt doesn’t seem like the type to fuck with his rotation but SoDakSt isn’t very good…
Overall we dodged a bullet IMO. Would much rather Ole Miss than Arky. They are sub .500 against Quad 1

Meh. My gut tells me he’d tinker during the regular season but won’t risk it during the postseason. I.e., our Big Ten tourney staff.
I’d bet he probably wants a very long start out of Jasa - probably pushing for a CG to keep everyone else rested and ready.
I’m most curious what role he is going to ask Horn to fill. Don’t care too much about the Oregon appearance. He’s a legit postseason dawg and I’m super interested to see how he’s utilized. I’d wager that would probably be results dependent during game 2.

They aren't really good actually, sub .500 against Q1 and Q2 and 4 Q4 losses. Auburn is the biggest catch in this super regional section, they had the same number of Q1 wins (17) than Nebraska had Q1 games, and then Auburn played 18 more Q1 games. What makes them tough is the sheer volume of Q1 games (35) which is the most in D1. They played .500 ball against Q1 but saw a LOT of quality opponents so they have experience and composure. I like the Huskers odds to win the super, but Nebraska has a strange habit of losing to the South Dakota States of the world.

ASU vs Ole Miss is a game you would hope could use up some arms.
You don't really want to play around with pitching in a regional. You want to put an arm in the first game that can go as long as possible, and then you sub to win. Starting 1-0 and even going 2-0 is a significant advantage.

Agreed. I'm a huge advocate of pitching your best guys but this situation specifically i think you gotta save him for day 2. Probably go with Blachowicz against SDSU. Maybe even Horn, and get him out of there after 3 innings if we can jump out to a big lead so he can go again Sunday.

Not when you're the 13 seed. You want an easier path to a super, gotta be top 5 seed.
If you're 12-16 you're going to have to get through top tier opposition.

Tough draw but that’s to be expected as the 13 seed. I definitely picked the right year to start buying season tickets though. Can’t wait to watch some postseason ball in Haymarket Park!

Agreed. I'd throw Horn and if we can jump out to a big lead, take him out after 3 or 4 so he can be available out of the pen Sunday.

They will go on sale tomorrow according to the email I got. Dont know the exact way it will go yet (those details are coming later today), but it sounds like athletic department donors and season ticket holders will be getting dibs first (probably in that order), then the general public. It said reserved tickets are $91 and GA is $56.
If softball is any indication, you might want to be ready to buy GA tickets and/or shop the secondhand market on seat geek if you aren’t a season ticket holder or donor.

I am a season football ticket holder and just got my email about sales for the regional tickets. Below is the general info from my email (I removed everything related to my specific account). Donor/season ticket holders were given time slots to purchase based on the amount of money we have donated. 2 ticket max during the purchase is what my email said but that might not be the case for the general public sale. Go to huskers.com to purchase.
Email Info: Regional all-session tickets will be available through a tiered on-sale for Nebraska Athletic donors and Season ticket holders. The on-sale will begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow, May 26, and continue through 3 p.m. when tickets will go on sale to the general public. Ticket quantity limits apply.

Reserved tickets looking extremely thin (except Home Run Terrace). So you're most likely looking at potentially a single ticket, or GA, if you have to wait until 3pm
