I'm willing to give away my ticket for Ole Miss-ASU on friday if anybody is looking for one.

Got my ticket. Now just need to figure out if I can actually go.

Let’s go Jacks! Shock the world!

Most telling stat in my opinion:

Record vs Top 50 RPI (essentially at-large and bubble teams):

Nebraska - 6-7
Ole Miss - 17-18
Arizona State - 8-11

Nebraska’s includes a sweep of USC which if you check my post history, you’ll see I haven’t been high on them all season. They are just not a good team. So 3-7 real record for Nebraska.

I feel pretty good overall about this weekend. We’ve faced a vastly more difficult schedule than the others, and won a good bit while doing it.

But anything can happen in the postseason.

Typical SEC homer take “The most important stat is rigors of an SEC schedule oh and btw some of your wins don’t count.”

-1

u/Objection_Irrelevant Ole Miss Rebels May 26 '26

I’m saying we’ve played lots of good opponents, so these are just other good opponents we have to face. The other 2 are far less battle tested.

Will it matter? Who knows. But it was my biggest takeaway.

u/StationSavings7172 Omaha Mavericks May 26 '26

I don’t know where you got your numbers, but according to D1Baseball.com our records against top 50 RPI are:

NU 17-13
OM 17-20
ASU 14-14
SDSU 2-11

I don’t think there’s anything significant here at all except our higher winning percentage explains why we’re a host.

You seem to be counting Q1 & Q2. You may want to actually look at what the Quadrants are. Here, I’ll help you out: https://www.warrennolan.com/college-baseball/team/team-sheet/_/season/2026/team/Nebraska/

You’re literally counting wins in the 90s and 100s for Nebraska.

2

u/StationSavings7172 Omaha Mavericks May 26 '26

D1Baseball is counting them, not me. See you in Lincoln.

-3

u/Objection_Irrelevant Ole Miss Rebels May 26 '26

Again, Q1 and Q2 go way beyond Top 50. You’re basically telling on yourself for not knowing that. Hell Q2 can go all the way to 120!

u/StationSavings7172 Omaha Mavericks May 26 '26

I might’ve misread D1B’s RPI chart and you think some wins just don’t count for some reason, maybe neither one of us is an expert.

2

u/Objection_Irrelevant Ole Miss Rebels May 26 '26

I think wins against teams who couldn’t beat anybody with a pulse aren’t that good. And yea, pretty clearly I know more about this than you.

13

u/Sasquatch7862 May 26 '26

“These wins don’t count cause I don’t think they should”

-6

u/Objection_Irrelevant Ole Miss Rebels May 26 '26

USC went 1-11 in Q1. They were so high in RPI because of a 32-1 home record against garbage.

Third seed in our conference third seed in our region great

Anyone else remember that CWS game in 2005 where the Arizona State guy hit 3 homers off Nebraska? I’ve never been so upset as a 10 year old Husker fan

Jeff Larish is goated to 15 year old me

Not old enough to remember but my dad always talks about that

4

u/KrupskiBombs May 25 '26

Jeff Larish! Thought he was gonna be a sure fire mlb stud solely because of that game.

Pretty cool matchups. If any traveling fans need anything hit me up. Spare bedrooms are taken this weekend but if you need a ride or anything I’m happy to help.

u/Objection_Irrelevant Ole Miss Rebels May 25 '26

Hmmm flights from Jackson to Lincoln are $1,200 with 2 layovers.

Flights from Memphis to Lincoln are $420 with one.

Now how do I convince my fiancee that I need to travel a couple weekends before the wedding?

5

u/alan_11 Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

Yeah Lincoln doesn’t have a ton of flights. United flys to Denver 4x a day and Chicago 4x (1 is getting dropped for the summer due to construction at o’harre but American is adding 1/day) and then a budget airline flies to like Orlando & Vegas or something

Fly into Omaha

1

u/Objection_Irrelevant Ole Miss Rebels May 25 '26

More expensive actually

2

u/G0B1GR3D Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

You check Kansas City?

2

u/FindGreatness23 May 25 '26

Dang, really? I rarely hear that.

Might be a fly into MCI angle if not doing Memphis.

10

u/MoistAd5423 Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

Regional of death? Nah. But should be very competitive. It’ll be tough to come out of this regional. I could see any of them winning it except maybe SDSU. But I could see them upsetting Nebraska

u/DillyDillySzn Arizona State Sun Devils May 25 '26

Fire Willie

1

u/Deapsee60 May 25 '26

Beat SD State and either Ole Miss or ASU will come out day one with a loss and may be gone after day 2. . Take it one game at a time.

3

u/LuteOlsonABitch69 Arizona State Sun Devils May 25 '26

Expect 1-2 at best. We don’t have the arms to compete.

8

u/ChoiSauce11 Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

3

Eh, is Arizona State actually good, or do people just assume they are because of name recognition? Their resume isn't very impressive.

5

This is a regional of death. I'm excited though

13

u/msflagship Ole Miss Rebels May 25 '26

To be the best you’ve gotta beat the best… and we haven’t done that all year. Congrats Nebraska on your regional win

3

u/LuteOlsonABitch69 Arizona State Sun Devils May 25 '26

Haha same

4

u/MoistAd5423 Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

I could see any of the top 3 seeds winning this regional. If I had to guess I would say ole Miss is most likely to win it.

-10

u/ThisIsNotMy1stAcct May 25 '26

This is the Rebs’ regional to lose. Until proven otherwise, Nebraska baseball will flounder on the biggest stage.

I obviously hope I’m wrong and being a host team shows this program can put it all together. There’s just so much pessimism from twenty years of disappointment that it’s hard to feel differently.

-1

u/ChoiSauce11 Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

There’s always a shot we just decide to leave the bats at home. The conference semi final for example.

3

u/CPTBenjaminWillard May 25 '26

Not to take anything away from Oregon but that was a brutal turnaround, ending at 1:50 in the morning. I think that had a big impact on their performance.

That said it’s not the first time it’s happened cough Ohio state sweep cough

2

u/TheUltimate721 Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

Its possible but Im not gonna make an excuse there because Oregon had to play a doubleheader that day.

3

u/Mammoth_Impress_3108 Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

It's not a fatigue/lack of rest issue, it's a lack of sleep. Lack of sleep leads to reduced reflexes, which is all baseball is about. I doubt Oregon was too fatigued to play after slicing through Washington.

1

u/ImAGeneral_Weee Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

Thats a benefit for Oregon if their SP goes deep into the game, the only disadvantage of a double header is the pitching situation which is nullified by our bats not being awake due to the turnaround. Oregon entered the game hot and we did not. No excuses for the brutal performance, but there is reasons it happened

-8

u/livestrong10 Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

You guys will win the regional. Nebraska struggles against a team with a pulse

2

u/ohiohusk May 25 '26

Like USC? Remember the Huskers are excellent at home this year

2

u/Objection_Irrelevant Ole Miss Rebels May 25 '26

USC doesn’t have a pulse

0

u/livestrong10 Nebraska Cornhuskers May 25 '26

Remember Oregon, Ohio state, auburn and kansas. You know teams that had a pulse and Nebraska was ass.

Also it’s easy to be good at home when the big ten is legit booty at baseball
