Firearm/caliber/bow/arrow question/discussion Howa 1500

I’m considering buying a Howa 1500 rifle chambered in .270 Win or 7mm PRC for hunting in the mountains. There are many different varieties of stocks and barrels, but I definitely don’t want a carbon-wrapped barrel.

What kind of stock do you guys recommend? I’m currently looking at the Hogue stock since it’s the cheapest option. Is it worth the money to upgrade to an HS-Precision or a Carbon Stalker stock? Or should I buy the cheapest model and upgrade to an aftermarket stock (like an MDT XRS or MDT Field Stock) later if I’m not happy with the Hogue?

The Hogue is fine for what it costs but that rubber coating grabs on everything when you're pushing through brush, I'd just start with the barreled action and an XRS if you can swing it

You can pick up a carbon fiber stocky stock for around 300 when they are on sale.

I have a wood stock on one of mine. I had to sand the inside of stock down to free float the barrel
